Just a few reminders & updates -

Annual Campaign Our Annual Appeal is drawing to a close, and many thanks to all who have contributed so far. It is heartwarming to know that the library is such a special place to so many in our community. Our fiscal year runs ends on June 30th, so please consider a contribution before we close out the year.

New Landscaping in our Front Yard!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We have been working with a landscape architect and local landscapers to create a plan to spruce up the landscaping in our front yard, to help not only beautify the area out front but also to create more visibility for our sweet historic library along with more usable outdoor space. The project will begin on Monday, June 1st with plans for completion prior to our Book & Plant Sale on June 27th.

Please note: If the workers have placed cones in the front circle of the library, you will need to park in the back and enter through the back entrance. The overall traffic flow of the library will not be disrupted, only the ability to park out front during certain work sequences. Also, for the duration of the project our BOOK DROP will be moved out back near the entrance to the ramp; just drive through to the back of the library to return your books. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we will keep you posted via our website about any changes throughout the project.

Charge it! The library can now take credit card payments at the circulation desk for your annual appeal donation, a YPL cap or mug, book sale items, copies, faxes, etc. We also have a link on our website (or see link below) so you can charge contributions of support.

Curbside pick-up is available every day that we are open, and materials can be left out for after-hours pick-up if requested before the end of the day. Curbside pick-up will be in the back of the library in a basket on top of the book drop during our landscaping project.

PROGRAMS and more!

Annual Book & Plant Sale

Saturday, June 27th, 9 AM to 1 PM

Rain date: Sunday, June 28th

This event is a major fundraiser for the library. Please stop by and peruse the books and plants and support the library.

BOOKS:

If you’re considering bringing in books, please look at the guidelines posted below, in the library or on our website, and please note, the week of June 22nd is the last week we will be accepting book donations for the sale.

PLANTS:

While you're working in your garden in the next few weeks, please keep in mind our upcoming sale -- we count on your donations to help make it a success. You can leave your potted plants under the back entrance ramp on Thursday afternoon, June 25th, or Friday, the 26th.

Sally Hockenbury can assist with digging and potting, or will come to pick up what you have already dug up from your garden. Please call Sally Hockenbury at 508-918-6675. You need not wait until the sale, as Sally will care for your donations in her own garden and bring them to the sale. Sally would appreciate donations of extra pots, preferably plastic, to be left under the back entrance ramp any time from now until the sale.

On the day of the sale your loan of wagons, carts, or wheelbarrows makes a HUGE difference as we set out inventory. Those can be left to the right side of the building near the ramp.

We thank you in advance for your plants and your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the sale!

Planning Ahead & For the Record:

Summer Book Sale Donations

We are accepting donations for our Summer Book Sale.

Please bring them in only on Monday afternoons from 1 to 3 PM, at our East side door. Since the library is closed on Mondays, volunteers will be there only from 1-3 to receive and sort contributions.

We will happily accept:

Children’s and adult books in clean, saleable condition, DVDs, and music CDs. New England and Cape Cod history is always appreciated.

We will not accept:

Clearly outdated books, such as travel guides, financial advice, diet/medical, self-help, or technical manuals. Please, no damaged, soiled or mildewed items, and no audio books or VHF tapes.

We thank you in advance for looking through your boxes before dropping them off, and also for not waiting until mid-June! To arrange another time to make donations other than Mondays from 1-3 PM, please call the library to make an appointment.

Ongoing Book Donations (Year-round)

For our ongoing Under the Spiral Staircase Sale, we will accept only 2021-current books in good condition during regular open hours. Please bring donations (limit of 10 per visit, please) into the library; do not put them in the book drop. Thank you.
