Just a few reminders & updates -

Annual Campaign Our Annual Appeal is well underway, and many thanks to all who have contributed so far. It is heartwarming to know that the library is such a special place to so many in our community. Since our fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th, we will continue to reach out to ask for your support. Our goal this year is $50,000 and we are ever so close; please consider a contribution to put us over the top!

Charge it! The library can now take credit card payments at the circulation desk for your annual appeal donation, a YPL cap or mug, book sale items, copies, faxes, etc. We also have a link on our website (or see link below) so you can charge contributions of support.

Curbside pick-up is available every day that we are open, and materials can be left out for after-hours pick-up if requested before the end of the day.

PARKING! Parking at YPL, especially when there is an event, is limited and difficult. We have four spaces near the front door, and we ask that if you park out front please be mindful of the lines and pull forward as far as possible within the lines to allow for four cars to park safely.

Also, our back door is always open during library hours, park out back (where there is plenty of room) and come on in the back door.

Planning Ahead & For the Record:

SAVE THE DATE!

Annual Book & Plant Sale, Saturday, June 27th, 9 AM to 1 PM

If you’re considering bringing in books, please look at the guidelines posted below, in the library or on our website, and please note, the week of June 22nd is the last week we will be accepting book donations for the sale.

Also, now that Spring is really here and people are working in their yards, some may want to

donate plants in advance of the sale. Lucky for us, Sally Hockenbury will visit, dig up, and pot

whatever you would like removed from your garden, and tend it in her own garden until June.

This is a win-win opportunity for everyone, while increasing plant inventory for the sale. Please

contact Sally at 508-918-6675 (her cellphone). Traditionally, members of the community have joined library volunteers the day of the sale to help with plants or books. Sign-up sheets will be posted at the circulation desk in early June.

Summer Book Sale Donations

We are accepting donations for our Summer Book Sale in June.

Please bring them in only on Monday afternoons from 1 to 3 PM, at our East side door. Since the library is closed on Mondays, volunteers will be there only from 1-3 to receive and sort contributions.

We will happily accept:

Children’s and adult books in clean, saleable condition, DVDs, and music CDs. New England and Cape Cod history is always appreciated.

We will not accept:

Clearly outdated books, such as travel guides, financial advice, diet/medical, self-help, or technical manuals. Please, no damaged, soiled or mildewed items, and no audio books or VHF tapes.

We thank you in advance for looking through your boxes before dropping them off, and also for not waiting until mid-June! To arrange another time to make donations other than Mondays from 1-3 PM, please call the library to make an appointment.

Ongoing Book Donations

For our ongoing Under the Spiral Staircase Sale, we will accept only 2021-current books in good condition during regular open hours. Please bring donations (limit of 10 per visit, please) into the library; do not put them in the book drop. Thank you.

New Landscaping in our Front Yard

We have been working with a landscape architect and local landscapers to create a plan to spruce up the landscaping in our front yard, to help not only beautify the area out front but also to create more visibility for our sweet historic library. We plan to start the landscaping project around mid-May, which may limit some parking and/or access to the library. We will keep you posted via our website about any changes as we know more.

Museum Passes

YPL has a variety of museum passes available. Passes are available for all CLAMS patrons. Also, if you are interested in supporting the library by sponsoring an annual pass, please let us know.

Notary Public

Just as a reminder, the library has a Notary available for your convenience. Please call to schedule an appointment. (Note: The notary will not be available from May 9 to May 23rd - the notary will be on vacation.)

If you have any questions about books, holds, programs, etc., please give us a call at 508-362-3717.
