Rabbi Julie's message, Hill Havurah Rabbi Educator

This year, our Thanksgiving celebrations will be very different. We will miss sitting around the table with our extended family and friends. It will be an unique time to give thanks in a virtual way. Here is a great article about the Jewish values of Thanksgiving. And here is a wonderful opportunity to do tzedakah to support DC Central Kitchen and make sure that everyone in our community has enought to eat.

My colleague Rabbi Eric Eisenkramer wrote, "On this Thanksgiving, when we are gathered around the table, I might suggest that we offer a special blessing: “Baruch atah Adonai, Blessed are you God, who has given us the bounty of food and the blessing of family.” I wish you and your family a joyous Thanksgiving around your table and via Zoom connections.

B'virkat shalom (blessings of peace),

Rabbi Julie

Hebrew on the Hill

We have exciting news! Hebrew on the Hill is our new optional mid-week Hebrew program for 3rd-6th graders, in addition to Yavneh classes, or for former Yavneh/Capitol Hill students. Rabbi Julie will tutor students by Zoom. The Hebrew curriculum matches Yavneh and Hill Havurah’s Hebrew and B’nai Mitzvah prayer goals for leading services. Here is additional information about the program.

If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Julie, We look forward to your child/ren strengthening their Hebrew skills as they study in Hebrew on the Hill.
