Help us distribute free lights!

Bike Lane Uprising was originally started in Chicago by a cyclist sick of watching other cyclists injured and killed by cars. They have since grown and now have bike light giveaways in multiple cities, merch, and a bike lane obstruction database with over 60,000 entries across the US.

These bike lights will be crowdfunded through mostly individual donations, through the Bike Lane Uprising website. Once 200 sets of lights are funded, they will be shipped to us for distribution. Distribution will be done on group rides, at community events, and by simply standing on the side of the street at dusk and picking out cyclists who don't have lights. We will focus on handing these lights out to the people in this city who need them most.

You can help get us to 200 lights by donating here. Light sets are $14 each.

Cranksgiving!

Saturday, Nov. 11th

10 am - 2pm

Combustion Brewery & Taproom 2971 N. High St.

Yay Bikes! is pleased to support the Columbus edition of Cranksgiving, a food drive on two wheels!

How does it work? Simple. Cranksgiving is a free event for anyone with a bike and a desire to do good. Show up on two wheels, and we’ll hand you a list of Thanksgiving food items to purchase for the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center Food Pantry.

You'll then ride to local grocery stores, buy whatever you'd like to donate, and carry it by bike back to the food pantry.

You can ride on your own, or with one of the three various route groups that will be lead and swept by Yay Bikes! volunteers.

You then return to Combustion Brewing with your donations, for some post-ride socializing and fun!

There will be a prize for the person who hauls the most donations by weight and a raffle for all participants!

Want to volunteer to be a lead or sweep? Drop a message to brenda@yaybikes.com.

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is a global event held every third Sunday of November to honor those who have lost their lives or been impacted by roadway crashes.

This year on November 19, communities across the globe, including several dozen in the United States, will gather together to demand actions towards improving roadway safety and to uplift proven strategies, including redesigning dangerous roads, reducing speed limits, and improving vehicle design.

The event below is being hosted by a groups called Friends & Families for Safe Streets Columbus.
