Nancy P. James was educated as a theoretical mathematician, followed by her first professional decade as a computer systems analyst and consulting on pre-internet national networks. In 1982 James opened her insurance agency specializing in technology liability risks and risk management.
When the millennium and Y2K computer challenges gained traction, James, lead author of a pioneering early Y2K article for the Boston Bar Journal, was offered a place on the 1997 American Bar Association annual meeting’s technology panel, and subsequently an invitation to address international insurance experts in London.
With the new millennium, James’s attention turned to internet risks and management, crafting the nation’s first internet liability insurance policy in 1997. For more than four decades, James has been widely published in the areas of technology liability, global risks, and cyber risk management.
