Akron Community Foundation awarded more than $2 million in grants this quarter, including more than half a million dollars in board discretionary funding for health and human services programs. A $5,500 grant to Birthing Beautiful Communities will help its team of doulas, or birth workers, provide services for high-risk mothers to reduce infant mortality in Greater Akron.

For Women, Forever
Join the Women's Endowment Fund for its annual dinner to celebrate uplifting women and girls in Greater Akron. This year's keynote speaker is Jill Penrose, chief people and administrative officer at The J.M. Smucker Company. During the event, the fund will also honor Sylvia Trundle with the 2020 Judith A. Read Tribute Award for Service & Advocacy for Women. Tickets are on sale now.
IRA rollover used to establish one of nine new fundsNewFunds
The Lou Albertson Endowment Fund is one of nine funds recently established at Akron Community Foundation. The endowment fund, established with a charitable IRA rollover and grown through future  planned gifts, will forever support the foundation's quarterly grant cycles and its Millennium Fund for Children.
