MARCH 2022
Year of the Water Tiger

March 3 marks the beginning of the New Tibetan Year (Losar), 2149, Male Water -Tiger Year of the 17th Rabjung Calendrical Cycle. The Water-Tiger year promises to be a year of surprises as that is the nature of this animal. Attention, caution and balanced decisions will be required. The Tiger is known for its power, daring, and predilection for doing everything on a grand scale. Tigers are quick to action, so be prepared for situations to change on a dime. The Water element, a powerful natural force adds strong and wild emotions to situations. Tempers may flare, drama and excitement may reign. and crazy dreams can become reality. This can apply to personal relationships, career developments, and, on a larger scale, political unrest or social revolution. Some people may experience wonderful luck while others can easily get burned. There is little middle ground in the year of the Tiger.

The Tiger is a popular symbol in Tibetan culture. It is one of The 4 Auspicious Animals in Tibetan Buddhism - the symbols of those qualities we develop on the sacred Buddhist path of the Warrior. They appear on temple walls, on handicrafts and on many prayer flag designs. Here are two Tiger products we carry on our website.

This Month's Special 50% Off
The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian once again reminds us of the threat of nuclear war. Our November 2021 newsletter featured a new prayer flag we began printing last year, "A Prayer for Averting Nuclear War." This special prayer was written by the Dzogchen Master, H.H. Chatral Sangay Dorje (1913- 2015), who saw the proliferation of nuclear weapons as the greatest threat facing our modern world. He asked that the prayer be written on flags and displayed around the world in great numbers to help counteract the nuclear threat. We have designed a line of prayer flags using this prayer.
During the coming months, The Prayer for Averting Nuclear War set of 5 flags in English will be on sale for 50% off. SALE PRICE: $9.00/set
We print this prayer on a variety of prayer flags designs, both in English and in Tibetan, for both horizontal displays and for vertical poles.
THIS MONTH'S PRACTICE & NAGA CALENDARS
"Nagas are the custodians of the water realms, often serving as protectors of the doctrine and keepers of treasures. We have a close connection with the nagas through the water element, which pervades all of life, but we can unknowingly cause harm to the nagas through polluting and destroying the environment..." (Khandro Kunzang) We can restore harmony and heal our connection with the Nagas by performing Naga Offering Ceremonies. For information on Nagas and Naga Offering Practices I recommend the video course, "Honoring the Water: Teaching and Practice of Naga Offerings" , taught by Khandro Kunzang.

During the first month of the Tibetan year the Nagas spend their time listening to Dharma teachings. If offerings are made to the Nagas on the teb (offering) day during this month, there will be three benefits: increased longevity, success in spiritual practice, and increased prosperity.
If offerings are made on dok (opposite) days during this month, the Nagas will perceive the offerings as wild animals attacking them. This will cause them to react by attacking back. Always avoid making offerings on a dok day during the first lunar month.
Almost every day is a bad day to make offerings during this month. The ONLY day you can make offerings is on March 27 - Dakini Day, and it is an excellent day, so make an extra effort to do the Naga offering pujas on this day.
We appreciate feedback from our customers; encouragement ,suggestions and constructive criticism. We also enjoy getting photos of prayer flags on display, especially ones you got from us.
