Yep, it's going around! đ± How to Beat the Bug this Season.
With the bird flu making headlines and the flu and COVID-19 making a strong comeback, it seems like everyone is coming down with somethingâbut letâs be real, "cold and flu season" is really the result of an extended "Sugar Season".
Sugar Season kicks off with Halloween, picks up speed at Thanksgiving, throws a megawatt party all December and New Yearâs, then rounds the corner on Valentineâs Day⊠and that, my friends, is why we have âcold and flu season.â All that sugar weakens the immune system, making us more susceptible to whateverâs going around.
So go easy on the sugar this Valentine's Day. If you are having sweets, have small amounts sweetened with natural sweeteners and have it with a meal that has a fair amount of protein; this helps blunt the glucose spike. IF you are feeling sick, NO sugar for you!
My go-to for staying well? Oregano oilâbut not just any kind. Look for one with a high carvacrol content (at least 80%) for the most potent immune support. A few drops, three times per day, can do wonders! I take this anytime I start to feel a little down or slightly sick and it works like a charm, everytime. Additionally, I also get extra sleep, eat less and drink tons of water to get a superfast recovery.
And of course, loading up on immune-boosting foods like garlic, ginger, and leafy greens is always a good idea. Toss some kale into your meals, sip on fresh ginger tea, and donât forget the garlic!
Bonus Recipe: Quick Immunity-Boosting Shot
Mix together:
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger juice (or grated ginger + a little water)
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- A few drops of potent oregano oil
Take it like a shot for an instant immune boost! For many if you already have a cold or flu, taking this short, or just the oregano oil, 3 times per day for 7-10 days aids a much quicker and complete recovery. Stay well!
