Volume 13, Issue 3 | March 2024

Hi!

Last Sunday I was walking up the steps to a building when I spied daffodils in the ground to my left. I thought, “Yes! Spring is really here!” I learned many moons ago that daffodils are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring, so to see them was most uplifting—I simply am not a winter person.

So, happy spring to everyone in the Northern Hemisphere!

With the advent of spring, I feel a renewed enthusiasm to get back to working a Technical Writer and Editor job. It’s been three months now of a flexible schedule—trying out new social groups that meet during the day in order to make new friends; increasing my volunteer activities; focusing on my health; and, getting back into reading fiction. I’ve really enjoyed it and will miss it, but I’m ready to exercise the gray matter a bit more again and utilize my experience, talents, and skills in the work world.

March is not only a particularly important month for me because of Nature’s showing us renewal, but because it is the month when, back in 1990 and residing in the Big Apple, I started my conscious spiritual path by walking into a 12 Step meeting for eating disorders. My life was totally transformed by that action of March 10th. And, I realized just this week, that I have now lived half my life practicing the 12 Step philosophy. Amazing!

Spring is a time when people connect more to the earth. It is a time that exudes hope, possibility, renewal, Life. I trust your soul will find refreshment and joy as you march into April with the spring season and Nature blossoming full blast.

How the Spring Equinox Supports You, Spiritually and Emotionally

The Spring Equinox is a joyful holiday centered around rebirth and growth. It is the arrival of spring, and the earth is coming alive again.

With the Spring Equinox, your spirit is waking up with new ideas and new dreams for your life. Its fresh, warm energy has the power to make you feel alive and inspired.

Implementing changes required in order to grow and flourish can disrupt your sense of equilibrium in late winter. But with the Spring Equinox, the earth returns to a place of perfect balance. Day and night are equal (the light and the dark), bringing the return of some much-needed balance into your own life.

Nature is waking up and being reborn; the same thing is happening within you. Your spirit is coming alive with hopeful, excited energy. Parts of you are being reborn and coming alive in ways they never have before. Your spirit feels ready to make a fresh start.

Your work this season is to determine which of your winter dreams you want to focus spring’s powerful growth energy on. This is the season of illumination. Spring is the time to get really clear on what you want to see grow in your life and what you want to harvest. In order to gain that clarity, you need to try out what’s calling you. Try out new ideas, connect with early spring’s playful, curious spirit. Look closely at what seeds you want to plant and decide what you want to harvest in the months ahead.

Enjoy!

People—and Other Beings—Making a Difference

Adults and Puppies Helping Children Together

I just got back from my dog walker volunteer training at United Animal Friends so I thought the following story was apropos.

Brooke Hughes, a Delaware teacher, started a reading program that brings foster puppies into the classroom. The program is designed to bring puppies from a shelter to schools to support social and emotional health. Not only do the pups provide joy, in return they have a safe and loving place to learn and grow while they wait for their forever homes.

Students’ reading skills improve, the classroom environment is enhanced, social-emotional learning is strengthened, and a sense of responsibility and collaboration is encouraged. The staff benefit too!

Watch the video below to learn more—and increase your joy-o-meter! You can also learn more at https://fostertalespuppytherapy.com/gallery/and view more photos of adorable pups.

Students and puppies are sharing a classroom—with big benefits

You, Me, and Spirit

I was a devout atheist until 34 years ago when I "came to believe" in a Power greater than myself. Thanks to hearing the novel idea (well, at least it was to me!) that one could choose their own concept of God—and name too (Spirit, The Great Mystery, All That Is, etc.)—and the workings of synchronicity, I embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others. It impacted all aspects of my life and relationships.

Since that time of commencing my conscious spiritual journey, I have endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom I meet, and all that I do—including working with clients in my own business, academia, and the corporate world. I strive to be of service and to nurture the human spirit in all environments.
