Teacher Feature
Shanee Wolff
Shanee's first introduction to yoga was through restorative classes. She practiced restorative yoga as a way to relieve stress from her job as a flight attendant. The excessive traveling schedule began to take its toll on Shanee both physically and mentally. "I would often wake up and not know what city I was in. I had anxiety about flight times and dealing with hundreds of people a day on the plane." Restorative yoga was a refuge for Shanee allowing her to relieve stress and fully relax.
In 2003 Shanee decided to go on a yoga retreat to Thailand where she was introduced to meditation practices, yoga asana, and philosophy. "I began to experience through meditation that I was beyond attachment to my body and mind. I began to experience real freedom and peace from within."
After the retreat in Thailand Shanee had a strong desire to learn more about yoga and enrolled in a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Shanee was inspired to teach yoga and quit her job as a flight attendant after completing her 200 hour training. She continued her yoga studies in a 500 hour teacher training at Yoga Pura.
" Yoga has been a journey for me to discover each day Who Am I? It has helped me move beyond the limitations and constraints of my mind. One of my favorite mantras is Om Bhavam Namah - I am absolute existence - I am a field of Possiblities. Yoga has helped me to love and have compassion for myself and others."
Shanee teaches Classic Level I on Monday and Wednesday at 11am, Vinyasa II on SUnday at 9am and Restorative at 12pm on Sunday.

Who Practices at Yoga Breeze?
Jill Pearns As a special education consultant and advocate for families with children and young adults with disabilities; Jill Pearns has successfully participated in 100's of special education school meetings across the state of Arizona. Believing that all children, regardless of their challenges, can and should thrive, Jill encourages school teams, to focus on and embrace the strengths of the child, rather than their weaknesses. To ensure that these children's area of challenge is also addressed, Jill challenges school teams to provide appropriate means of support so the child can have a meaningful and positive school experience. Jill's experience in special education advocacy began the day her oldest son Jaz was born with Down syndrome. From the very beginning and still continuing today, she has been instrumental in helping to develop as well as improve her son's programs. Today her son, (now in his mid-20's) lives a very active and fulfilled life. He is employed, he actively volunteers and he enjoys an abundance of weekly social activities with his many friends. In addition, Jaz participates in a weekly social skills group that Jill runs and coordinates for young adults with disabilities. Believing she should practice what she preaches, Jill recognizes she too must focus on her strengths and get support in her area of challenges. As someone who has had many difficult and stressful situations in her life, Jill has found the practice of yoga to be her most effective support system. Improvements in her physical strength and flexibility have been a given. What Jill has been especially grateful for is the emotional strength she has received from her practice at the Yoga Breeze Healing and Wellness Center. Jill says, "My mind, body and spirit get strengthened and healed, every time I put myself on the mat." Jill credits yoga with giving her the tools necessary to be the best she can be, allowing her to focus her attention on helping others. Taking yoga to a different level, Jill alongside her son Jaz, teach a weekly 45 minute yoga to a class of 25 preschoolers. Considering the dynamics of 25 rambunctious 3-5 year olds and young man with Down syndrome instructing yoga, it is incredible that this experience even works... but work it does. Jill states it is magical. |

Greetings!
We turn the soil, infuse it with nutrients, and plant the seeds. As it is externally, so it is internally. Spring is a time to plant consciously within ourselves our very highest thoughts and intentions, so that we may grow into our fullest expression of the divine. Tend to your internal garden with love and compassion. You can't plant stinkweed and expect to grow roses. So be mindful of your thoughts, for what you sow you will surely reap. This month, Yoga Breeze is offering workshops, retreats and various other ways to help you flourish. Please take this time for yourself and nurture the garden within. Love and blessings, Christine |
