Dear Students,

As we prepare for another holiday season, I'm reminded that self-care isn't a waste of time—it makes all our time more sustainable. This wisdom, like yoga itself, continues to evolve and deepen.

Over these 30 years, I've watched as ancient wisdom has embraced modern understanding of how we move, heal, and find balance. Like a living tradition, yoga grows more nuanced and rich as we understand more about the body's intelligence and remarkable healing capacity.

The time we commit to practice isn't just exercise—it's an investment in how we experience life's precious moments, transforming how we move through the holiday season and engage with family and friends.

Holiday 2024 Yoga and Movement Class Series

This holiday season's classes continue to reflect this evolution of our work over these many years, weaving together time-tested yoga practices with deeper explorations of movement and healing.

We'll work with familiar poses and breathing practices enhanced by current insights into neuromuscular patterns and bodily awareness to help you move through life with more ease and joy.

This intention is built into our Holiday 2024 Yoga and Movement class series.

This foundation of balance and a healthy mind and body is a lynchpin for all of your life, supporting immediate relief from holiday stress and our daily aches and pains and providing lasting tools for well-being. Getting older can mean getting better, as building these healthy foundations can be reflected in all you do.

The series will begin on Tuesday, November 19, and run through Wednesday, January 22. Because the holidays are in mid-week this year, there will be a hiatus from December 24 until January 3.

You can contact me with any questions, seek assistance to get started, or join the series at any time that suits you best.

Specialized Support for Pain-Free Movement

While our holiday series offers a foundation for seasonal well-being, I continue to provide specialized support for those dealing with specific movement challenges.

Our  Yoga and Somatic Movement Class has been a cornerstone of pain-free movement for over 15 years, helping many students return to activities they love. This gentle yet powerful approach builds confidence and capacity, creating a bridge back to an active lifestyle.

We begin a new series on Saturday, November 16, running for six weeks through December 21. As with all our work, you can join anytime as your schedule permits.

Movement's Deeper Wisdom: A Path to Wellbeing

For those seeking deeper solutions to persistent movement challenges, our non-medical Yoga and Somatic Based Movement Therapy program offers a path to understanding and addressing root causes, opening new possibilities for movement and comfort.

This individualized work helps you discover how postural imbalances and movement patterns, along with how your nervous system organizes movement, may be key missing pieces in your recovery journey.

Employing a more personalized approach complements our group classes. It offers focused guidance for your unique pain, balance and movement challenges with its focus on your specific alignment and movement pattern imbalances. Many students find that combining regular classes with individual sessions allows them to build both understanding and practical skills for lasting change.

I invite you to learn more about these complementary programs. Contact me for a free consultation to explore how this approach might serve your journey toward more comfortable, onfident movement.

Sustaining What Sustains Us

Life is busy, resources seem limited, and we often find ourselves at our worst when we need to be at our best. Many of you reading this are familiar with this dilemma.

As we get older, our resilience can be challenged in unique ways at any time. Yet even the most basic yoga, movement, and self-care practices can build that vital reservoir of inner reserves we need to live gracefully amidst these challenges.

With all the demands placed upon us, beginning and sustaining these essential practices can seem complicated and fraught with hard to overcome obstacles. For additional support, I recommend these thoughtful articles: "How to Start a Self- and  "5 Barriers to Self-Care (And What You Can Do to Overcome Them")."

They offer framewiork for how to prioritize your own self-care, not to diminish you and your impact but instead to help you be more of a force in all you do.

I look forward to supporting your journey this holiday season and beyond.

Namaste,

Alan
