"My love of art was established early on. I come from a family who has a history of artistic painting and crafting. When my sister and I were little, my mother and grandmother were always teaching us how to make something fun out of all kinds of materials. I dabbled in painting over the years, not really getting serious about it until a few years ago when I decided to take a painting class and fell in love with it. I never had any formal training, so it was a challenge to get the paint on the canvas to look like the image I was copying. I especially love painting wildlife, which was a learning process because of all the fur and feathers. I mainly paint with acrylics, which I find easier to work with when doing fur. However I do love the blending quality of oils, especially when it comes to sunsets; but whatever I do now in either medium, I find that I just love to paint."

"I have been a runner most of my life, competing in cross country and track in high school, two marathons and several half marathons. When I learned from my doctor that all the running was aggravating a chronic illness, I was devastated. My nurse practitioner encouraged me to try yoga, and, I admit, I was skeptical. But finding yoga has been such a blessing. Not only am I physically stronger, but the mind-body connection, postures and focus on breath control have helped me to reduce and manage stress, significantly improving my health and quality of life. I am very grateful to the talented YogaBalance instructors who have helped me to achieve wellness, and to have such a supportive community to practice with."
