March is the perfect time to cleanse the body and the mind. Spring, in the Northern Hemisphere, brings renewal and the opportunity to clean out waste in the liver that builds up over the Winter. For those in the Southern Hemisphere, March is also a great time to cleanse in preparation for the colder months ahead.

Kundalini Yoga and a yogic lifestyle offer kriyas that cleanse the internal organs, purifying pranayams, meditations that clean the subconscious mind, and cleansing diets and recipes. Here we offer a few of the many choices available for cleansing the body and mind.

The buildup of wastes in the digestive tract prevents good absorption of nutrients and provides a breeding ground for bacteria and illness. This kriya works out the entire elimination system.

This short series can assist in balancing both your blood chemistry and mental state. It alternates between left-nostril breathing, right nostril breathing, Breath of Fire, and the opportunity for a short meditation.

During the winter months when the cold and flu are rampant, it's crucial to ramp up your herbal medicine regimen. Ginger is a powerful antiviral that specifically helps with respiratory infections and lemon is a wonderful way to boost the immune system as well as bring the body's pH to alkaline. Both the lemon and the ginger also aid in digestion. This is a wonderful drink to incorporate during all seasons of the year.
