Yolo County teams up with Davis to
advance the Community
Supervisor Provenza has been actively working on important initiatives that cross city/county borders and on partnerships to address housing, public safety and economic development.

Housing for those in need
Davis and Yolo County are working together to provide housing for those most in need.

The county delivers services at the city’s daytime respite center on L Street. Yolo County helped Davis fund the project.

The county and the city are both planning to provide funding for “Paul’s Place”, a multi-functional housing center under construction on H Street. The facility serves the most vulnerable people by providing housing and wraparound services. Paul’s Place is expected to open next year.
Fire prevention in wooded areas adjoining neighborhoods
The city and county, with assistance from the East Davis Fire Protection District, have jointly conducted fire risk prevention in the North Fork Putah Creek drainage channel in South Davis. City neighborhoods are on the north side of the channel and unincorporated Old Willowbank is on the south side.

Foliage has been carefully trimmed and removed to reduce fire risk, preserve habitat for wildlife, and assure the safety of the adjoining bike path.

Funds are being sought by both jurisdictions for ongoing fire protection in the area surrounding the creek.
Mace Blvd.
City and county staff have been working in earnest to update and complete plans to correct problems along the Mace Blvd corridor south of Interstate 80 (Mace Mess). The road surface was repaved a couple of years ago, but features to accommodate bicycles and pedestrians are being revised to ensure all modes of transportation flow freely.

While this is a city project, the county wants to ensure safe access for El Macero, residents and businesses south of Montgomery Avenue, as well as emergency and agricultural vehicles that use the corridor.

In January, the city will preview updated designs to the community before taking proposals to Davis City Council for action. Prior to the community meeting, we will review proposed plans with representatives from El Macero, south of Montgomery, Old Willowbank, and adjacent city neighborhoods.
