Mayor Spano Honors State Champion Hillcrest Lakers Little League Team
Mayor Spano welcomed the Hillcrest Lakers Little League team to City Hall. The Lakers recently won the Sectional Tournament, New York State Tournament, and were runners-up at the East Regional Tournament. For more photos, click here.

Yonkers Resident Mayra Avila Crowned Miss Westchester
Mayor Mike Spano today welcomed Yonkers resident and 2014 Miss Westchester pageant winner Mayra Avila to City Hall, presenting her with a proclamation from the City of Yonkers and declaring August 29, 2013 Mayra Avila Day. Mayra, 25, was crowned 2014 Miss Westchester on August 3 at the White Plains Performing Arts Center. She is the third consecutive Yonkers resident to be crowned Miss Westchester since the pageant was founded in 2011. As Miss Westchester, Mayra will represent Westchester County in the upcoming Miss New York State pageant. For photos, click here.

Mayor Spano Unveils New Fishing Pier at JFK Marin and Park
In a ribbon cutting ceremony today, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano officially unveiled the new 18-feet-by-54-feet fishing pier at JFK Marina and Park, encouraging Yonkers residents to fish at the pier during the remaining two months of the season.
"The waterfront is our city's greatest asset," said Mayor Mike Spano. "With this new fishing pier at JFK Marina, Yonkers residents have yet another way to enjoy the 4.5 miles of Hudson River waterfront in our city."

Surprise Visitor to City Hall Drops Off School Supplies
This is the kind of stuff that makes your day. For his birthday party, 9-year-old Yonkers resident Connor Mulvey asked his friends to donate school supplies for the Mayor's Backpack to School drive instead of bringing him birthday presents. Connor, his mom Bernadette, and sisters Sarah and Kate stopped by City Hall to drop off the supplies. Mayor Spano then gave them a tour of his office.
