You are invited to take part in the Parks and Recreation Department's photo contest and share your love for Yorba Linda! Contestants are encouraged to submit photographs showcasing the beauty and character of Yorba Linda through its programs and natural settings by using our online entry form . Do you have a strong desire to share your passion and expertise with others? Ideal contract instructors have the flexibility to teach during a variety of dates and times at our Parks and Recreation facilities and must be certified to teach licensed programs, if required. Class offerings must fit into one of the following target ages ranges and categories: Preschool (0-5 years), Youth and Teens (5-17 years), Adults (18+), and/or Older Adults (55+). Be the hero of your health and attend the 2019 Senior Wellness Expo at the Yorba Linda Community Center on Saturday, October 19 at 9:00 a.m. Receive helpful health information from over 60 vendors and participate in vital health screenings and a raffle! Recreation Staff is hosting a special Halloween Teen Excursion to Knott's Scary Farm where teens and their friends can brave a variety of haunted mazes and exhibitions at the largest Halloween event in the area. Participants will meet at the Field House and be transported to and from the theme park, and will be chaperoned by Recreation Staff. Reserve your teen's space by registering online ! The Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department will be working with Santa Claus this holiday season to deliver holiday wish lists! Letters must be received by December 13 for a timely delivery and response from Santa. Mailboxes are stationed at City Hall, the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House, Travis Ranch Activity Center, the Yorba Linda Community Center, and the Yorba Linda Library beginning November 4.
Join the Yorba Linda Teen Action Committee in bringing joy to those in need this holiday season. We encourage you to bring a non-perishable, non-expired food item or unwrapped gift to any of our drop off locations (Black Gold Golf Club, Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House, Travis Ranch Activity Center, City Hall, and the Yorba Linda Community Center) from November 5-December 7. All items collected will be donated to the Yorba Linda Food for Families Program.
Senior Services staff will host a Veterans Day ceremony to honor those who have served in the United States military at the Yorba Linda Community Center on November 8 at 10:15 a.m. Veterans and their families are welcome to enjoy lunch, entertainment, and a touching slideshow presentation. Veterans may submit their photo, branch of service, and rank to the Yorba Linda Community Center front desk by Friday, November 1 to be included in the presentation and purchase tickets for $3.00 on October 29 at 9:00 a.m.
Teens (grades 6-12) looking to give back to the community can come together at the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House and create care packages for those children in need at Children’s Hospital Orange County and Operation Santa Claus through the Orange County Social Services Agency. Students can also bring their school community service forms to receive service credit. To donate items for the kits, please bring new, unopened items to the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House or the Yorba Linda Public Library September 16, 2019 – November 1, 2019. Donated items may include: craft supplies, toys, books, gift cards, and personal care items. All students who attend this event and bring in a new, unwrapped gift ($10 in value or more) will be entered in a raffle to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
