PYLUSD Allowing Men in Women's Sports

Allowing men to competition in women's sports..."is a violation of Title IX," (Pam) Bondi said. "The Department of Justice will not sit by when women are discriminated against in sports. This is about sports. This is also about these young women's personal safety."
The Trump Administration filed a lawsuit recently against Maine’s education department for not complying with the government’s ban on transgender athletes in women's sports. It is said that 2/3's of voters nationwide support the ban.

PYLUSD Allowing Men in Women's Sports
Men are also allowed in women's restrooms and locker rooms.
Opinion
___________________________
Acting Superintendent Allan Mucerino felt that the April 8 PYLUSD agenda was "too full" to address the issue of men being allowed to compete in women’s sports.
School Board member, Leandra Blades felt that this was a pressing and important issue as men are still being allow to compete against women in PYLUSD sports. They also are still allowed in women's restrooms and locker rooms.
If the school board is not too busy, it may be addressed at the May 6 meeting. School ends on June 12.
As recently as March 2025, a man who had reportedly transitioned, competed against PYLUSD women. The man took first place in the division but was later disqualified for using a cell phone. Competitors are not allowed to use cell phones during competition.
Those in charge of the athletic event reportedly called Acting Superintendent Allan Mucerino to ask for direction on how to handle the matter. Mucerino did not answer his phone and the man was disqualified.
This same male will again compete against women athletes in upcoming California Interscholastic Federation competitions.

Carrie Buck and Her Bond Deception
Confusing misstatements made about a
future $432 million taxpayer debt.
Opinion
_____________________________
At the March 11 PYLUSD school board meeting, Carrie Buck, one of the remaining union-backed school board members who voted to approve an outrageous taxpayer debt of $439.2 million, assures the public that "the money is just sitting there in the bank and it is not going to hit taxpayers."
No refinancing or early payments are allowed on the bonds that are now
illegal. All the debt will be paid for by taxpayers.

Carrie Buck and Her Bond Deception
Confusing misstatements made about a
future $439.2 million taxpayer debt.
Opinion
_____________________________
In my opinion, Carrie Buck’s comments in the above clip were stated with an intent to cause confusion for the general public.
When Carrie or others at the district say this is a non-issue and that the funds are already allocated or taken care of, that is a gross misstatement of the facts.
How School Funds Are Collected
All homes within the boundaries of the district have a property tax line item that is being collected for a period of 40 years. The amount being collected is a component of a formula of the accrued interest and principal that will be due, compared to the property taxes being collected and factoring in a projected return on those property tax funds that are being held with the OC Treasurers office.
Invested Taxes Could Run Short
Those collected property taxes are being invested with a targeted investment return rate. What happens if the estimated return rate that was projected is not achieved? What happens if some of the funds are invested in an investment that fails?(Remember Bob Citron and the Orange County Bankruptcy of early1990’s?)
Should that happen, our district could possibly find ourselves short of the required funds to make the required annual bond repayments.
Important Questions
Assuming the projections and collected property taxes are sufficient, one still has to ask these very salient questions:
- Why did Carrie Buck and her fellow board members take on bond debt at an interest rate of 7.8% when at that time the going municipal bond rate was 5.25%.
- Why did Carrie Buck and her fellow board members agree to such restrictive repayment terms to agree that the bonds would be non-negotiable or callable? Imagine how much better this situation would be if our debt was accruing interest at 2.25% instead of 7.8%.
- The bond underwriting company (George K Baum & Company) was paid an underwriting commission rate of 1.3% for each of the bonds that were issued. The average bond underwriting commission at that time was .7%. In other words, we paid almost double the commission rate. Why did Carrie Buck and her fellow board members agree to pay such an exorbitant commission rate?
Poor Stewards of Taxpayer Money
It seems that at every turn, Carrie Buck and her fellow board members failed to take into consideration the financial impact on the district taxpayers. In the end, it is the taxpayers who have been left holding the bag with exorbitant debt that hangs over our collective heads for 40 years. Between the two bonds, we received $48.5 million, and we will pay back a total of $439.2 million.
However this money gets paid, it will all be paid by taxpayers.

PYLUSD Mismanagement
4999 Casa Loma
The former intended home of The Universal Sports Institute.
Opinion
___________________________
In 2013, Supt. Doug Domene, and the union-back school board that included Carrie Buck, failed to comply with state law that required the installation of fire sprinklers
Use of the building since 2013, violated state law and could have endangered the lives of children, parents ad teachers.
| | |
This PYLUSD building at 4999 Casa Loma Ave at Yorba Linda Blvd
sits empty due to administrative and school board
mismanagement in 2013 when fire sprinklers were not installed.
Opinion
____________________________
The building was intended to be the home of the Universal Sports Institute (USI) under the 2023-24 leadership of Supt. Dr. Alex Cherniss (on Administrative leave since December 2024) and Dr. Isaaic Gates (on Administrative Leave since December 2024) and the 2023-24 majority grassroots school board (Todd Frazier, Leandra Blades, Shawn Youngblood).
No State Mandated Fire Sprinklers
As plans were made to use the facility for USI, it was discovered that in 2013 Supt. Doug Domene, and the union-backed school board that included Carrie Buck, did not install fire sprinklers. Use of the building since that time reportedly violated state law and could have endangered the lives of children, parents and teachers.
At the same time, it was reported that union-backed school board members Carrie Buck and Marilyn Anderson attempted to stop USI by reporting plans to the Division of the State Architect, the Air Quality Management District and bird sanctuaries. USI was moved to the Bernardo Yorba Campus.
Today, the building remains empty and out of compliance. And, it appears that the union-backed majority school board will attempt to end USI by financially starving it and removing Dr. Alex Cherniss and Dr. Gates.
For many years, taxpayers, and especially parents, went about their busy lives assuming that all was well at PYLUSD. As test scores and attendance continued to drop, massive and irresponsible taxpayer debt loomed in the future, and the school remained indefinitely closed due to Covid, parents began to learn that not all is well. Problems, such as this, continue to emerge.

What Myovich did not tell the public is that a financially irresponsible union-backed school board borrowed $48.5 million with a total repayment of $439.2 million. He did not say that the bonds are now illegal, cannot be re-financed or paid off early, and have a 38 year maturity. Beginning in 2042, the bonds must be paid back in just 8 years with an average of over $35 million per year.

Can Taxpayers Afford the Teachers Union?
The continued wasting of taxpayer dollars
that robs our kids.
Opinion
We saw a lot of union funded signs in the 2024 election that said" Save the Schools". Below is a list of costs incurred
by the union that appear to be contradictory to that slogan.
___________________________
Cost of investigator: $530 per hour, $21,000 per week, $85,000 per month. The cost to taxpayers of an union-backed investigation of Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Issiac Gates remain on administrative leave.
Estimated cost could be $340,000.
Estimated Costs for Administrative Leave for a total of 7- In December, seven administrators were paid to stay home. In December and January 2024, the union-backed majority school board led by President Marilyn Anderson placed seven administrators. At a special meeting of the PYLUSD school board on Thursday, January 24, five administrators were approved to return to work. Dr. Cherniss and Dr. Gates are still sitting at home.
Resignation of Dr. Gates, Head of the Charter School.
Cost to our kids, our district, or reputation, unknown.
Costs to be Determined- Jon Matson, was placed on administrative leave in November due to admitted sign theft in the 2024 election. Matson has an attorney, believed to be paid for by the union, and the matter has been forwarded to the District Attorney. Union member costing the district money.
20% More for an Additional Attorney- In December 2024 the union-backed majority school board, led by President Marilyn Anderson, hired an additional attorney who is said to favor the union. There are additional future unknown costs with this attorney. Union- Not saving money. Union- Spending money.
$3,000,000 - Linda Manion, APLE Union President, doing union-only business and not teaching since 2004. Her contract required that she be in the classroom 50% of the time, which she was not. Average cost per year $150,000.
Union- Costing taxpayers millions while depriving our kids.
$5000 on frivolous legal maneuvers. On Monday, November 19, 2024, a judge denied an attempt by a retired union member, and the members of the Anderson, Janssen, Quintero campaign team, who attempted to file a temporary restraining order preventing a school board action to change the terms of Dr. Cherniss's contract. The judge stated that it was an attempt by a group to stop a vote by duly elected officials.
Union- Costing taxpayers
Costs to be Determined- Union-backed Marilyn Anderson contacted the following agencies to try to slow down, or stop, the Universal Sports Institute: the Division of State Architecture, the AQMD and a bird sanctuary. Legal fees incurred by the union shenanigans cost the district and taxpayers thousands of dollars. USI was paid for by City Building Fee, a state grant and Average Daily Attendance.

Update on reported sign theft by union-supported PYLUSD teacher,
Jon Matson, on administrative leave
Opinion
______________________________

Update 01-10-2025- The District Attorney has contacted the Yorba Linda Taxpayers Association to say that a case # has been assinged and is moving forward. Matson has an attorney and it is unknown how his legal fees are being paid.
__________________________________
According to Costa Mesa Police, Matson admitted that he took the Yorba Linda Taxpayer Association (YLTA) sign in Fullerton on the morning of November 2. Matson has reportedly been on administrative leave since November 4, 2024 and YLTA is pressing charges.
The sign was posted on Saturday at 6am in an area where prior YLTA signs had been repeatedly stolen. The location was just blocks from school board member and 2024 candidate, Marilyn Anderson's home. By 7:45am, the sign was already en route to Costa Mesa.
Questions continue: How did Matson, who lives in Costa Mesa, know the sign had been posted? Why did Matson just happen to be in Fullerton so early on a Saturday morning? Why would a PYLUSD teacher get involved in reported sign theft? Did Marilyn Anderson contact Matson to say that another YLTA sign had been posted?
Costa Mesa Police found that the sign had been cut up but still had the AirTag attached.

How to Remove Skunk Smells-Opinion
From a post on Facebook
________________________________
The best way we’ve found to remove the smell of skunk is:
1 bottle hydrogen peroxide,
1 tablespoon dish soap
1/4 cup baking soda
Sponge
Put first two in bowl, have the stinky one ready in sink and just before you sponge the mixture on add baking soda. Be VERY careful not to get it in nose or eyes. Massage through hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. Use your regular soap, rinse, dry. You literally can let them sleep on your bed after with no issues.
