Brett Barbre and YLWD Further Scandal

Opinion

A Freedom of Information Act request letter involving the hiring and forced resignation of then General Manager Brett Barbre leaves one to question his management skills, his animosity to Director Tom Lindsey, his current running partner, and possible retribution.

Brett Barbre and YLWD Further Scandal

Opinion

_______________

Given the questionable circumstances surrounding the hiring of Brett Barbre to the Asst. General Manager position at the YL Water District back in March of 2017, and combined with his forced departure and severance of over $195,000 that he received earlier this year; I submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the district in April of this year. I wanted to better understand Brett’s hiring and forced resignation and what had transpired to see how it affects the ratepayers of the district. The district continues to send me the requested documents, many of which have been heavily redacted. Yesterday I received the attached letter that Brett Barbre sent to the YLWD Board of Directors on March 7th of this year.

Given the fact that Mr. Barbre was forced to resign as General Manager of the district, and he is now running to be on the board of directors - After reading the attached letter the following questions come to mind:

Barbre Complains About Management

1- Mr. Barbre served as the Asst. General Manager and then General Manager for a combined almost five years – In his letter Mr. Barbre on five occasions refers to multiple YLWD departments as either Hapless, Incompetent, or Lazy – Why should the voters of the district vote for him if in a five year period of senior management he managed to leave the district without having improved their Hapless, Incompetent, and Lazy departments?

"I was lied to by Director (Tom) Lindsey

2- In his letter, Mr. Barbre makes the following statement; “From day one of my administrative leave, I was lied to by Director Lindsey.” That statement was made on March 7, 2022 – Now less than six months later Mr. Barbre is running as a team with Director Lindsey and Director Hawkins. Question for Mr. Barbre, so was Director Lindsey lying to you from November 2021 when you were placed on administrative leave through your departure in February 2022? If Director Lindsey consistently lied to you for a period of four months, why now are you teaming up with Director Lindsey to run to serve on the same board of directors? What favors are you calling in on Mr. Lindsey to entice him to run as a team with you?

Possible Retribution?

3- In his letter, Mr. Barbre makes the following statement; “This issue will be dealt with at a later time and in the proper venue.” – Question for Mr. Barbre, Is this a threat to sue the Yorba Linda Water District whose board you are running to be elected to?

After reading the attached letter, those are just three of many questions that I have for Mr. Barbre and quite frankly now Director Lindsey. I would encourage you and all members of the community to review this letter and other information that has been revealed as it relates to Mr. Barbre’s failed five year tenure at the Yorba Linda Water District. It is Brett Barbre’s proposed 164% meter and water fee increase that the board recently approved and will impose on customers over the next five years.

Thank You,

Jon Hansen

Recycling Glass Containers

Easy way to clean them

For a clean container,: add a small amount of vinegar, shake, rinse with water several hours later.

Vinegar can also clean many other things such as a toilet bowl ring: drain water from bowl, lay vinegar-soaked paper towels over the area, let stand for several hours, remove paper towels and scrub clean.

How to Remove Skunk Smells-Opinion

From a post on Facebook

________________________________

The best way we’ve found to remove the smell of skunk is:

1 bottle hydrogen peroxide,

1 tablespoon dish soap

1/4 cup baking soda

Sponge

Put first two in bowl, have the stinky one ready in sink and just before you sponge the mixture on add baking soda. Be VERY careful not to get it in nose or eyes. Massage through hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. Use your regular soap, rinse, dry. You literally can let them sleep on your bed after with no issues.

I am anxious for a safe, loving, forever home.

The videos below are listed in order from newest to oldest. Should you choose to watch them you will see that the content, presentation, and duration has grown with time. Along the way much was learned and new techniques employed. As new videos are created, it is my goal to continue this trend.

The availability of old photographs of our city is what makes these videos possible. I have pretty much "borrowed" everything currently on the internet, but will continue the search.
