CA's Irresponsible Water Management

Our lives, our city and our state will permanently change

with mandatory desert-like landscape, costing cities/taxpayers millions.

Opinion

Save the Smelt has failed miserably, yet CA continues to waste water for the cause.

Water and sewer rates are going up, with a limit of 42 gallons per person, per day.

CA's Irresponsible Water Management

Opinion

_______________________________________

Everyday we are losing into the Pacific Ocean more than 500% of the amount of freshwater it takes to prevent saltwater intrusion into the Delta–a necessity in which no water user disputes.

Every two days it is more than what would be saved by banning lawns at businesses.

Every five days it is enough freshwater to meet the needs of a million people for a year.

Right now it is being sent through the S.F. Bay to the sea to create ideal saltwater/freshwater mixing zones for smelt habitat.

1 (one) smelt has been collected in the Fall Midwater Trawl in the last six years, and that 1 (one) smelt was found back in 2017.

Zero have been collected in the last five years.

#CAMadeWaterShortages are being manufactured daily @everyone. Managing water scarcity, instead of utilizing Mother Nature's bounty and easily creating water abundance, is ongoing. New indoor water use limits of 42 gallons per person per day is in queue, and water/sewer rates are about to see major additional increases. The draconian use standard will fleece more of everyone's income to fund a giant new layer of big government, and a reduction in quality of life. Regardless of political party, we all need affordable and reliable water. It doesn't have to be like this.

An Attempt to Gut Prop 13

On the November 5, 2024 Ballot

Opinion

_________________________

Two New Proposed Amendments

Last week, and despite the popularity of Proposition 13, the California Legislature passed two proposed amendments to the California Constitution that rip huge holes in that iconic taxpayer protection overwhelmingly approved by voters in 1978.

But here’s the good news. These anti-homeowner bills must be approved at a statewide election and, given the anger from thousands of constituents who flooded the Capitol with calls, letters, and petitions, the two measures are likely headed for defeat.

Serious Threats to Prop 13

These two bills, Assembly Constitutional Amendment 1 and Assembly Constitutional Amendment 13, are both serious threats to Proposition 13, although for two different reasons.

ACA-1, Would Hurt Prop 13 and Make Raising Taxes Easier

Assembly Constitutional Amendment 1 is a direct attack on Proposition 13 that would remove the taxpayer protection of the two-thirds vote of the electorate required to pass local special taxes. If this measure is enacted, local taxes for “infrastructure” – defined so broadly as to be meaningless – could pass with just 55% of the vote instead of the 66.67% margin as required by Proposition 13. This makes it easier for local governments to raise taxes so California’s already stressed taxpayers will end up paying billions more.

Because ACA 1 repeals language in Proposition 13, even the most dishonest politician can’t argue that it leaves Prop. 13 unharmed. But ACA 13 is a different type of assault that doesn’t directly alter Prop. 13’s language. But the harm it inflicts is just as bad. Here’s how.

Attempt to Hurt Prop 13

ACA 13 is a devious attempt to prevent taxpayers from protecting Prop. 13. It aims to derail the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act (TPA), an initiative constitutional amendment that has already qualified for the November 2024 ballot. TPA restores Proposition 13 protections that have been eroded by the courts and it is supported by a large coalition of taxpayer, business, and property rights organizations.

ACA 13 Would Require 2/3's Approval, Statewide

If ACA 13 is enacted, TPA itself would require a two-thirds vote of the statewide electorate to pass, instead of a simple majority. That is virtually an insurmountable threshold for a statewide vote on a constitutional amendment.

Perspective: Prop 13 Did Not Have 2/3's Vote in 1978

In fact, if ACA 13’s two-thirds vote requirement had always been the law, then California wouldn’t even have a constitution. That’s because the state constitution of 1879, and all subsequent revisions, all required a two-thirds vote of the local electorate to approve bonded indebtedness. Moreover, under such a high threshold for a statewide vote, Proposition 13 itself would not be law as it “only” secured 65% approval.

Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Releases Petition

to Reinstate Prop 58, Repeal the Death Tax

Opinion

_________________________

For those of you who are interested, the new petition to get Prop 58 back on the November 2024 ballot is ready to sign.

Just a refresher…..in 2020, with the passage of Prop 19, parents lost the right that they had had in California since 1986 to leave their children their family home, business or second home without a dramatic increase in property taxes. Many of us did not fully understand all the consequences of Prop 19, and we want to get it back on the 2024 ballot for a revote and reclaim that right. If passed, it is also retroactive for those who suffered from the passage of Prop 19.

This year, anyone who wants to sign this petition can go to the link below, print it and mail it back! Follow directions so every signature counts, as we need 1 million signatures this year. And, share, share, share if this means a lot to you!

An Effort to Repeal the Death Tax

Opinion

Many have worked very hard to get this on the ballot in 2024. It repeals the 2020 Prop 19 that allows reassessment of property upon death of a parent/grandparent.

CA does not want this to pass...so they are making it difficult; the petition must be printed, signed and mailed in (like in the olden days as my kids would say) They need 1 million signatures asap to get this in the ballot. There are details in the pdf, and you can read more at:

https://reinstate58.hjta.org/

If you agree with this, please take a few minutes to sign and send this in.

How to Remove Skunk Smells-Opinion

From a post on Facebook

________________________________

The best way we’ve found to remove the smell of skunk is:

1 bottle hydrogen peroxide,

1 tablespoon dish soap

1/4 cup baking soda

Sponge

Put first two in bowl, have the stinky one ready in sink and just before you sponge the mixture on add baking soda. Be VERY careful not to get it in nose or eyes. Massage through hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. Use your regular soap, rinse, dry. You literally can let them sleep on your bed after with no issues.
