The Lowdown with Dr. Lowe

Hello York Academy Families:

The first few weeks of school are going very well, and I'm impressed by how much your children are learning already! I am also proud of our teachers and staff for their hard work and positivity.

Many thanks to everyone who joined us for Back to School Nights. We had a nice turnout at both events, and I enjoyed seeing so many of you.

Don't forget to register for the York Academy PTO Race Back to School on Saturday, September 10! All York Academy students may register for free. It always brings me joy to see our school community #uknight each year, and I hope you will join me next Saturday.

Lastly, I would like to thank those of you who have completed the New School Year Student Information Form. The deadline is Friday, so if you haven't done so, please fill it out now. Make sure to complete it separately for each student in your family. All parents/guardians are required to provide this information, and I appreciate your help in meeting this deadline.

Enjoy your evening,

Dr. Lowe

Knight Staff Superstar: Jarrett Goisovich

Congrats to Upper School Learning Support Teacher, Jarrett Goisovich, for being our first Knight Staff Superstar of the year! He was nominated for embodying the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile attribute of being caring!

When we are caring, we show empathy, compassion and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us.

Mr. Goisovich is new to York Academy and has jumped right in. According to his nominee, "He is already building tremendous rapport and relationships with both students and staff members." In particular, he has been providing wonderful support in the 9th and 10th grade Geometry and Algebra 2 classrooms. "Mr. Goisovich shows the IB attribute of being caring because of his commitment to service," his nominee said. "He circulates the classroom during independent work time to support any students who are needing assistance. He is patient and kind while he assists them, and they are already commenting on how much they appreciate his presence in the classroom," she said.

Thank you for all of your support and kindness, Mr. Goisovich! You're already making a positive difference, and we're thrilled to have you on the York Academy Team!

Register Now: York Academy PTO Race Back to School

Don't miss out! The 10th Annual PTO Race Back to School is happening next Saturday (9/10) at 9 a.m. at the Lower School. The York Academy PTO has a fun, uplifting morning planned - all to benefit our school community!

Participants may choose to run the 5K or walk the one-mile course. The shorter route is for anyone who wants to be part of the event, but not for all 3.1 miles. It's a one-mile stroll that starts and ends at the same point as the runners. Walkers won't receive a bib/be timed, but will still get to be in on the fun.

Talk to your circle of friends and family, and sign up! You can even register as a team. Plus, all York Academy students may participate for FREE! Click below to register.

Register Now!

In addition, many volunteers are needed to make this the best year yet, and we could use your help! Willing to share a few hours next Saturday morning? Email us at pto@yorkarcs.org.

Proceeds from this event will help fund field trips, family fun nights, assemblies, classroom supplies, teacher appreciation activities and much more! Thank you for your support in advance!

Many thanks to those of you who have already completed the form. If you have not done so yet, please take a few minutes to do so by Friday. This information will help us best serve your family, and we appreciate your help!
