York Academy Families:

Kindness Week kicks off on Saturday. The York Academy has been at the forefront of this movement, and we’re ready to do it again!

In fact, eight of our Upper School artists have been literally paving the way for kindness! Thanks to the generosity of Kindness Worldwide, the Cultural Alliance and the York County Community Foundation, they are creating a Kindness Corner in front of the Upper School.

Special thanks to Mrs. Hobbs, Mrs. Chester and the students for giving extra time on the weekends to ensure the artwork is ready for a special dedication on World Kindness Day (11/13). I’m very proud of their efforts to spread joy and kindness through art.

Also, please save the date for our 2nd Annual Knights-Giving on Friday, November 22 at the Upper School.

I encourage you to stay afterward to see the Fall Play at 8 p.m., as well. Our talented Upper School actors are excited to present "The Outsiders." Other show dates are listed below.

Monday: Lower School Mobile Dentist Signup Deadline

The Mobile Dentist is coming to the Lower School on December 2!

The deadline to make an appointment is Monday (11/11). Click here to register or complete the form and have your child give it to their homeroom teacher. Make sure to provide all the required information. Questions? Email Ms. Lane.

Birthday Boxes for Women's Shelters

Individuals that are staying in shelters may not have the means to celebrate birthdays. For their Kindness Week project, our fourth graders are working to make sure they do. They’re assembling “Birthday Boxes” so each person can celebrate their special day with a cake! They are seeking donations for these items:

Boxes of cakes (chocolate or yellow)
Cans of frosting
Disposable 9 x 13 aluminum cake pans
Birthday candles

Even one of these items will help our students make an impact. Please send donations to school with your children by this Friday (11/8). Thank you!

Don't Miss the Upper School Play

Tickets are on sale for the Upper School's production of "The Outsiders." Join us for an unforgettable performance that brings S.E. Hinton’s classic novel to life on stage in the Black Box Theatre!

Ticket prices are $3 for students, $5 for Seniors/Military and $8 for adults. They may be available at the door, but seats are limited. We encourage you to purchase your tickets online. You can even come to Knights-Giving on Friday (11/22) and stay for the first show.

Kindness Week Project: Socks for Clubfoot Program

For their Kindness Week project, our third graders are selling socks to help children born with clubfoot in other countries. There is a treatment for clubfoot that is easy and inexpensive to implement, but assistance is limited. Watch this video to learn more.

Through the Socks for Clubfoot Program, you can help make a difference. Families may purchase a three-pack of socks ($12), and their donation will help We Help Two (nonprofit) fund surgeries and casts for babies and children.

Plus, for each three-pack sold, We Help Two will send us a pair of warm socks to donate in our community. You will get cool socks, children in need will get the treatment they desperately need, and we’ll be able to donate socks to a charity locally.

There are many fun designs to choose from, so please purchase some funky socks so we can reach our goal!
