Get the Lowdown with Dr. Lowe

York Academy Families:

During Kindness Week, our students and staff lived Kindness Worldwide's motto of "see the good, be the good, go the extra mile."

In fact, during a special dedication, eight student-artists were recognized for paving an uplifting permanent mural in front of the Upper School. Over many weekends, they created York's first Kindness Corner.

We were honored to have Kevin Smith (founder of Kindness Worldwide), Mayor Helfrich and a representative from Governor Shapiro's office in attendance. Check out CBS21's coverage and read this York Dispatch article.

In addition, students and staff (K-12) embraced the Kindness Week movement. Here are some of the other tremendous Kindness Week projects. Watch for more details and pictures on social media.

First-graders handed out flowers and notes of cheer to individuals at Central Market
Fifth-graders created uplifting designs/notes and placed them inside and outside the perimeter of the school for others to find.
Sixth graders made special card to thank veterans
Students in grades 3 - 5 created letters, cards and pictures for students and staff at Goode Elementary School. Upper School students delivered them.

This Weekend: Don't Miss the Upper School Play

Tickets are on sale for this weekend's production of "The Outsiders." Join us for an unforgettable performance that brings S.E. Hinton’s classic novel to life on stage in the Upper School Black Box Theatre!

Ticket prices are $3 for students, $5 for Seniors/Military and $8 for adults. They may be available at the door, but seats are limited. We encourage you to purchase your tickets online. You can even come to Knights-Giving on Friday (11/22) and stay for the first show.

Deadline Friday: White Clover Candle Fundraiser

White Clover Candle Fundraiser Forms recently went home with students. As a reminder, order forms and payment are Friday (11/22). When you return it, please make sure your child’s name is on the form. Any Upper School students who would like to place an order can print out the form. You may pick up your orders on December 10 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Lower School (inside the playground doors).

Saturday Deadline: Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser

No need to be popping around stores to grab small holiday treats when Knights International is selling Double Good Popcorn! Double Good Popcorn brings flavors that make your tastebuds tango. The caramelicious, butterblissful, cheesetastic flavors are popped fresh, and as soon as you place an order it will be shipped directly to you!

Important Reminder: Lower School Morning Drop-Off

Every family plays an important role at the York Academy, and that means being respectful of our community neighbors. We have noticed that families are parking in the new Fox Apartment lot (and surrounding buildings). Students are running out in front of the moving car lane without looking. We have spoken to many parents in the back alley, but some are still not following directions. Plus, other families are following their lead! Please choose one of these options each morning:

Join the drop-off lane
Park on the street
Park at Small’s Field
