Parents & Guardians: Join Us at Back to School Night Tomorrow at the Lower School

Don't miss the Lower School Back to School Night tomorrow (8/22) from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

As a reminder, the event is just for parents and guardians because of space and time limitations. Students should not come.

Find out how the International Baccalaureate (IB) is unique because your student(s) learn skills and concepts across all subject areas, rather than during specific blocks of time (for math, science, etc.). You'll hear from teachers, administration, PTO officers, and department/program leaders. Meet your child's teacher(s), speak to PTO volunteers about getting involved, visit the school Uniform Swap, gather community-based information, and more! Please enter the building through the playground gate and doors.

We look forward to connecting with you and learning how we can support your student(s)!

Meet Our Knight Staff Superstar: Lisa Catalanello

Congrats to Upper School Theory of Knowledge Teacher, Mrs. Catalanello, for being our Knight Staff Superstar! She was nominated by Ms. Browe, (Upper School Math Teacher) for embodying the International Baccalaureate learner profile attribute of being caring.

"As I read the caring attribute description, Mrs. Catalanello immediately came to mind," said Ms. Browe. "As a new staff member, I immediately noticed that she was empathetic, compassionate and respectful to others as they shared their thoughts in anticipation of an exciting new school year. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she always makes people laugh and smile."

Thank you for bringing such joy and positivity to the Upper School, Mrs. Catalanello. It's fantastic to have you on our team!

Instrument Petting Zoo for Beginning Musicians

Is your child in 4th or 5th grade and interested in playing an instrument? Our Music Department is outstanding!

Come to our Instrument Petting Zoo on Thursday, August 29 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Lower School Multipurpose Room. (Use the side door on Beaver Street.) There will be a short presentation at 6:45 p.m.

Your child will get to see, hold and try the instruments we offer, and meet our stellar Band & Orchestra Director, Mr. Michael. Already have an instrument? Bring it along so he can take a look.

Parents will be able to meet with an individual from Menchey Music Service, Inc. (our preferred rental service) to find out about instrument rental costs and more. Your child will LOVE being part of our fun, progressive music program!

Parent/Student Chromebook Agreement (K-12)

The York Academy believes that access to technology is vital to enhancing students' learning opportunities in a global environment. Each student will receive a Chromebook for educational purposes.

All students (K-12) are required to sign the Parent/Student Chromebook Agreement in MySchoolBucks. You may print it (below) and send it to school, as well. Students are responsible for their devices and must take care of them.

Upper School students may take their Chromebooks home to complete work after they sign the policy. Lower School students will keep their devices at school, unless directed otherwise.

Students (K-12) have the option to purchase a Device Protection Plan for $30, which covers up to two incidents of accidental damage per school year. Cases and other hardware are not covered. The prices are listed in the agreements.

Please note that students who do not take advantage of the Device Protection Plan will be responsible for the full cost of repairs or replacement of the device (damage/loss).
