The Lowdown with Dr. Lowe
Good Afternoon York Academy Families:

Because the CDC has not made any changes in their recommendations and the number of COVID-19 cases in York County is rising, masks will remain in place at York Academy. Our Safe Return Committee will meet on January 24, and a decision will be made at the Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, February 14.

If your child has been vaccinated, please provide a copy to the school nurse (as with any vaccination). You may snap a picture with your phone and email it to Mrs. Marla Urey at murey@yorkarcs.org.

I want you to know that I am thankful for you and your children, and I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Dr. Michael Lowe

Knight Staff Superstar: Lauren Luckenbaugh
Congrats to First Grade Teacher, Lauren Luckenbaugh, for being our Knight Staff Superstar and embodying the International Baccalaureate learner profile attribute of being a risk-taker.

Risk-takers approach uncertainty with forethought and determination. They work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies and are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.

Ms. Luckenbaugh came to us with teaching experience ranging from primary through middle school ages. Since joining the York Academy Team, she has joined the PBIS team and used her varied background to actively help support positive choices for our students. According to her nominee, Ms. Luckenbaugh has been an amazing addition to the first-grade team. She continues to try new things and bring awesome ideas to the table.

Thank you for being such an engaged risk-taker, Ms. Luckenbaugh. Our school is better because you are part of the York Academy Team!

Promote Your Business!
If you know any businesses big or small that would benefit from added exposure, please let them know that we're selling ads for the yearbook. For business owners, this is a great opportunity not only to help the community by donating to the school and supporting our yearbook, but by promoting their services and potentially bringing in more business, too. Yearbook Advertising Manager, Joy Agummadu, created this video tutorial to help when creating an ad.

Celebrate Your Student!
Parents and families may also purchase personal ads to celebrate their student! Ads are available for any Upper School student and can be created directly online at www.yearbookforever.com. Joy's video may also help you through this process.

Submit Your Photos for the Yearbook!
You can also share photos you've taken of school events and activities through the Yearbook Snap App! Our code is YARCS. The pictures will be uploaded directly to Yearbook 360, our design software, and will be available for consideration by our yearbook staff.

For more information, email Joy Agummadu, Yearbook Advertising Manager, or Mrs. Rebecca Chester, Yearbook Advisor.
Smile for Picture Retakes on 12/1

Please make sure to return the original packet of pictures. Please note that the original order you placed will be filled with the new photos.

Students who were absent or started after October 8 may have their pictures taken, as well. Parents may order pictures at www.mylifetouch.com (our ID is EVTDPCC26).
Order Your Holiday Candles by 12/1
Don't miss out on purchasing some great gifts and helping our students! Knights International's Soy Candle Sale is coming to a close on Wednesday, December 1. There are many amazing fragrances to choose from and the candles are expected to be delivered by December 17 - just in time for the holidays!

If you have never tried soy candles, they are wonderful! In the candle world, soy is equivalent to organic. Great care is taken in every candle poured, and the candles burn longer with less soot. They are also dye-free and are made from pure soybean wax, cotton wicks and high-quality fragrance oils.

Knights International is grateful for your help in raising funds so the students can use their skills when visiting Spanish speaking countries next summer!
