Make No Bones, works by Maggie Genoble

Make No Bones by Maggie Genoble investigates the complex relationships between the body and technology, questioning what it is that makes a body obscene.

Make No Bones is anti-censorship. To “make no bones about” something means to speak or act directly and freely. When things are expressed in society over and over they become normalized. This exposure is essential for creating space for the strange but also makes it vulnerable.

The work, while rooted in Genoble's own lived experiences, creates space for the representation of historically marginalized bodies.

The Arts Council of York County is proud to announce a call for entries for the third phase of public art in Cotton Alley Gallery, located adjacent to the Center for the Arts at 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC.

The Alleys as Galleries initiative transforms well-traveled alleys and vacant walls into vibrant outdoor art spaces seen by thousands of local residents and visitors. This project provides selected artists with invaluable public exposure, features on the Arts Council website, and recognition within the community. Our overarching goal is to brand York County as a premier regional arts destination while championing the talent of our local artist network.

You must be an active Artist Member to apply to the

SCAC announces first FY27 Emerging Artist cohort

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Five artists establishing themselves in their artistic pursuits will receive a project-based grant and career mentoring from the South Carolina Arts Commission Emerging Artists program.

The SCAC defines emerging artists as being at an early stage in their artistic career development—within the first five years—with no basis in age. It awards two new cohorts of emerging artists each...

Author Talk and Q&A with Local Author Stephen Turner

Enjoy an evening chat with Stephen as he discusses his new book, The D-Shift Trials: Courage, Coverup and Corruption. In this book, Turner tells the stories of a turbulent period in Rock Hill's history, 1974-1980, with the local police department.

There will be a Q&A session as well as an opportunity to chat with Stephen as he signs copies of his books, which will be available for sale. Turner also authored Bleachery: Rock Hill's Greatest Business Enterprise and A Different History: African Americans at the White Homestead, Rock Hill, SC, 1838-1870.
