Hello all,

A couple of topics for this evening. First, a quick reminder that one of the main items on tomorrow night's Board agenda is the public comment period for the proposed FY2024 budget. The meeting begins at 6:00 PM on the second floor of York Hall. The public comment period for the budget is agenda item #3. This will occur during the Public Hearings beginning at 7:00 PM. Go to https://www.yorkcounty.gov/1526/Agenda for the full agenda.

Second, I want to make sure everyone is aware of an important program offered by the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Montgomery and his staff have established an Autism Acceptance program within the office. This program provides our deputies training on how to safely interact with residents who have been diagnosed with autism. It will also provide to any York County and Poquoson citizen a window sticker to alert a deputy that the car or home they are approaching may be occupied by someone with special needs. If you are interested in receiving a sticker please email the Sheriff's Office at sheriff@yorkcounty.gov or stop by their office.

This program goes in hand with the "Heads Up" service. This is a form you can submit that gives you the ability to alert our 911 operators and first responders about special conditions they will need to consider when responding to a call. In addition to the autism notification you can also provide information about residents in the home who are non-ambulatory, sensory impaired, have special medical prescriptions/equipment or have other special needs. For more details and access to the form go to: https://www.yorkcounty.gov/DocumentCenter/View/4783/Heads-Up-Form?bidId=
