Hello all,

I'd like to take a few moments to briefly follow-up on my previous newsletter. First, thank you for all the great feedback. I'm glad that many people found the breakdown of our upcoming elections for this year to be helpful.

Second, I have to acknowledge the small grammatical error I made when I referenced returning to the "poles" as opposed to the correct usage, "polls". While it was a simple mistake and one that the spell checker obviously wouldn't flag, it is something I shouldn't have missed. I'll try to be more diligent going forward. Ensuring that even the small details are correct is important.

Last, I received a couple of messages with concerns about using county resources to publish and distribute my newsletters that contain campaign-related information. Inappropriate use of county computer/internet resources are certainly a valid concern and I'm glad this was brought forward so it could be addressed. Fortunately, I have good news to share about this topic.

I use an online service called Constant Contact to produce my newsletters. I use their cloud-based editing software to compose the content and they manage the email distributions off of their servers. This avoids the use of York County email servers performing my newsletters distributions. My campaign website is hosted by another online service called Wix and I registered my campaign website domain name (friendsofstephenroane.com) through a company called Network Solutions. Network Solutions also provides my campaign email addresses like stephen@friendsofstephenroane.com.

I interact with all of those services through my private internet connection. Practically all of my newsletter compositions and website design/maintenance are performed on my personal devices. All of the above are funded either via my campaign account or personal funds.

In both my professional world and in my capacity as an elected official I've received training and direction on the appropriate use of corporate and public resources. It's something I'm very sensitive to and I strive to avoid misusing the resources that have been entrusted to me.

Basically, the only tie-in to the county email system has been my use of my official county email address. I used that because it is something everyone would recognize and it was convenient for me to compartmentalize all of my county-related messages into one inbox. However, I understand how the use of that email address may make these newsletters appear to be official county correspondences, positions or endorsements. To prevent that going forward, I'm going to change the associated email address in the newsletters to my stephen@friendsofstephenroane.com address. Please feel free to use either that address or my county email address, whichever is most convenient for you.

I appreciate the opportunity to share these details with you. I want everyone to know they can trust me to be a good steward of county resources and not abusing my access to them.

Having said all of the above, I still intend for the vast majority of my newsletters to be informative and educational regarding county matters. I'll reserve most of my campaign information for my website and other online services. Although, I would like to quickly add in a thank you for all the yard sign requests following my campaign announcement. I was able to finish delivering the first batch late this afternoon.

Best regards,

Stephen
