Hello all,

A quick update I'm pleased to share with everyone; Tuesday's Board meeting saw the conclusion of this year's budget cycle with the approvals of the proposed FY2024 Budget and FY2024 - FY2029 Capital Improvement Program. Tuesday night was the finish line of a 10 month collaborative process to identify the important funding needs to keep York County operating through the next fiscal year while also initiating the county infrastructure improvement plans for the next six years.

Probably the highlight most everyone is interested in is the tax relief we were able to put in place Tuesday night:

  • The real estate tax rate was reduced by 1.3% from $0.78 to $0.77 per $100 assessed value (this is in addition to the tax rate reduction from last year)
  • The personal property tax rate was reduced by 2.5% from $4.00 to $3.90 per $100 assessed value

In addition to the tax rate cuts, the budget and CIP also provided for a variety of items:

  • Important updates to county safety features such as Fire & Life Safety department equipment and AED devices
  • Improvements to county recreation services to include more sidewalks/bike paths, kayak launches and splash pads for our kids
  • Numerous school facility repairs and buildouts
