Tropical Storm Ophelia Info

Hello all,

As the county monitors the progress of Tropical Storm Ophelia over the next couple of days, one important resource I want to pass along is for anyone with vehicles such as RVs, boats, trailers, trucks, etc. that might be at risk of storm surge flooding. If you have concerns about those vehicles being partially submerged and are looking for a place to store them temporarily, there are a couple of county-owned locations that may be of help.

The parking lots at the McReynolds Athletic Complex (412 Sports Way) and Chisman Creek Park (1314 Wolf Trap Road) have been opened for temporary storage. Feel free to use them at any time over the weekend. If you take advantage of the parking lots, please make plans to move your vehicles from the lots by Monday afternoon.

As you might imagine, most county activities have been canceled for the weekend. More information about closures can be found at our storm portal.

Stay safe and dry this weekend. If you need emergency assistance don't hesitate to contact our 911 center.

Best regards,

Stephen
