Efforts related to implementation of the York County 2013 Hazard Mitigation Plan from April 2015 through March 2016 include the following:
- Assistance to Dover Township regarding grants to address Pine Road flooding and Chanceford Township to address generator needs;
- Providing Informational training session for Municipal EMA Coordinators regarding York County 2013 Hazard Mitigation Plan on 4/1 and 4/18;
- Coordinating with York County EMA to arrange tour of 911 facilities for York County Planning Commission Board Members and staff;
- Participating in America's Preparathon and National Preparedness Month by posting related information on YCPC website and Facebook account;
- Distributing information regarding FEMA mobile notification app;
- Hosting and providing information/presentation for FEMA Resilience meeting in August;
- Conducting Planning and NEPA reviews for 12 projects regarding applicability of York County Hazard Mitigation Plan;
- Continued participation on the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and as part of the Tier II Plan Review Committee;
- Staying informed and providing information on Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) updates, including information outreach and follow-up with municipalities to determine adoption status, searchable web based mapping of proposed/adopted changes, information outreach on changes in flood insurance due to the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 and the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act, and on-going presentations to first time home buyers and realtors regarding this information;
- Attendance and participation in several educational workshops and webinars, including Basic Leadership Training, The Role of Hazard Mitigation in Post-Disaster Recovery, Building Resilient Communities through Hazard Mitigation, On-the Map Emergency Management, Certified Floodplain Management Course, Hazard Planning and Resilience: the Elected Officials Perspective, State Hazard Mitigation Plan Review Webex, Preparing Individuals Disproportionately Impacted by Disasters, Organizing a High Water Mark Campaign for Your Community, Hazard Mitigation Plan Implementation, Climate Resilient Mitigation Activities, Adapting Urban Vacant Land to Mitigate Hazards, and Pipeline Safety Training;
- Presentation to York Mayor's Association on York County Hazard Mitigation Planning and the role of the Mayor in Hazard Mitigation;
- Continued work on Flooded Road Study for York County to inventory and evaluate roadways which are susceptible to flooding for potential use in prioritizing transportation improvements;
- Reviewing and commenting on different projects that may be affected by identified hazards;
- Staying abreast of proposed pipeline and electrical transmission lines and meeting with representatives from these companies to address any concerns;
- Continued education and outreach to municipalities regarding available grants and training, as well as any changes to hazard mitigation laws or related hazard mitigation information;
- Organizing and hosting floodplain administrator training held March 2016; and
- Providing information outreach on hazard mitigation topics through YCPC Facebook page, E-Alert, and website.
