April Sorrows by MaryElizabeth Dugmore

April brought sadness and heartache to our close knit YTNR family. Paula, our California  director's father, Paul, passed away on April 18, after a short period in Hospice. Corrine, our rescue director's life partner, Stan, passed away unexpectedly on April 19, after a prolonged illness that he fought with heart and soul. The sense of loss is profound in this organization and extended family that we have built and maintain together.

Both Paula and Corrine are always there for others, always there for our rescues in need, and  always ready to support team members in our amazing organization. They are pillars in our  YTNR community that we lean on for support, and that we look up to. Even during hardships in  their own lives, they never stop caring about other human and sentient beings. These two  amazingly strong women always put others first. This month we ask you to put them first.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they face the sadness and grief of losing  their loved ones.

Paula and Corrine, we are sorry for your losses. Please accept our sincere condolences. Please  know that we love you, and that you can reach out to us at any time. We pray that tender  memories of Paul and Stan will soften your grief, and that you may find comfort in the joy you  knew together with them. Please be patient with yourselves, as you face your sadness and  actively deal with the loss of your father, Paula, and of your life partner, Corrine. Allow  yourselves as much time as you need, and please ask for assistance from us, when you need  it. Most of all, please take good care of yourselves, physically, emotionally and spiritually. In our
hearts we will embrace you with love from across all corners of the county. In our hearts you  are near and dear, and we wish you comfort.

Paul and Stan, you are loved. We will keep you in our hearts and cherish your memories. May  you both Rest In Peace.

Love ...

MaryElizabeth Dugmore

To all our other members who have faced loss over the past weeks, months and years, may  peace be with you too, as you work through grieving the death of your loved one. Please know  that you too, can reach out. We are your YTNR family.

Fundraiser in Illinois by Jackie Wolfe

Pictures of our booth at the Chicago Pet Show in Oak lawn on May 4-5th.

The booth fee was donated to us by one of the show's sponsors.  We were at the show for two days selling items to raise money for our wonderful little YTNR fosters.

Pictured are Jackie and Jerry Wolfe and Maureen Swanson holding sweet little Mini Me.  The event was very well attended and many people stopped by the booth to share their stories of their beloved Yorkies.  Mini Me was a super star, wagging her tail and giving her belly to all who volunteered to pet her.  The Chicago Pet Show has several shows in different locations each year and it is a good bet we will be attending others. Crafted items are always a big hit and anyone who wishes to help support YTNR by making items to sell would be appreciated.

INTRODUCING MAX!
(fostered in  Sparks, Nevada)

Please, say Hello to handsome Max. He is a 16 month old Yorkie/Border Terrier (possibly) mix. He was an owner surrender. Max is just a love bug. He wants to be everywhere his person goes.  He will share a bed with you but also likes the floor.  He loves riding in the car or laying curled up next to you on the couch. Max will need a large fenced yard to run around.  He knows how to use a doggy door and enjoys the freedom to go in and out. He loves to play fetch.  He will come with his toys! Max is good with both larger dogs and tiny dogs, he just wants to play. He is also fine with cats. Max will need an active family to keep up with his youthful ways. He has been around children and does fine. So, if you are looking for a lively and fun, loving addition to your family, Max is the one for you. Please fill out an adoption application and name Max as your new best friend. He is UTD on shots, neutered, and micro chipped.

In Loving Memory

I'm very sad to inform you that Lucy has passed away. It appears she has succumbed to her heart failure. Lucy was taking 2 types of heart medication. Yesterday morning she took her pills in her little clump of soft food, but last night it was difficult to get her interested in food at all. She finally ate a tiny bit with the pills inside, but nothing else. She jumped up on the couch, but did seem a little slower than usual. This morning she was laying next to the bed on the floor and had died.
She was a sweet little girl. I'm glad I got to care for her.

My beautiful little Claire went to Rainbow Bridge in my arms today. She was a YTNR rescue that came to me in 2013 at 7 y/o. She hadn't been well for a couple of months and this morning she told me it was time.

I'm in Lexington at my daughter's and we buried her tonight in their Memorial Garden alongside their Cavaliers who have passed. It's a beautiful spot on a hill overlooking the bluegrass meadows. Someday my ashes will be there too.

I still have my YTNR rescue Braylee and Precious Poodle who belonged to my dear friend Pam who died this last October.  I whispered to Pam today to take care of mine and I will take care of yours til we meet again.

Godspeed Claire ...  I will always love you and never never forget you.

Nancy

It is eerily terrifying that there is no sound when a heart breaks.
Car accidents end with a bang, falling ends with a thud, even writing makes the scratching sound of pencil against paper. But the sound of a heart breaking is completely silent. Almost as though no one, not even the universe itself could create a sound for such devastation. Almost as though silence is the only way the universe could pay its respect to the sound of a heart falling apart."

History of Mother's Day

Mother's day is a special day to honor your mother and celebrate the role of mothers in society. The modern holiday was first created and celebrated in the United States in 1908 at the initiative of Ann Reeves Jarvis. However, many traditional celebrations of mothers and motherhood have existed for thousands of years and some date back to ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.

"Mothers are like glue. Even when you can't see them, they're still holding the family together" ~ Susan Gale

Fun California visit by Patti Kushnir

California is happy to welcome the Spaulding Pack into Southern California.
Amalia, Ron and Faith began their vacation in sunny San Diego where they had a great time.
On their way to Los Angeles, they stopped and visited me and Jimmie. Marge Williams, one of our most dedicated volunteers and a good friend came over with her little dog Scooter, who is in remission with cancer. Yay!!!

At lunchtime we ordered a delicious Pizza sat around and just enjoyed the afternoon. Faith was her usual charming self. Marge and I fell in love with her so needless to say, when it was time for them to leave and continue their vacation to Los Angeles, I tried to talk Amalia into letting me keep Faith, but she would not agree. I wonder why!!!! However, I really had to keep a very close eye on Amalia who was trying very hard to take my Jimmie boy with them ;)

Thank you, Amalia, Ron, and Faith, for stopping by, we had a great visit.

Neeko's Joke

~ A mother mouse and a baby mouse are walking along when suddenly a cat attacks them. The mother mouse shouts "BARK!" and the cat runs away. "See?" the mother mouse says to her baby. "Now do you see why it's important to learn a foreign language?"    ~

Wishing All the Pawsome Moms out there
a very Happy Mother's Day  ♥

P.S. As you can see from the pictures above at Auntie Patti's house, Meee was missing. Obviously, my Pawrents made a huge blunder!
Anyways, my skin-sister, Faith, came home raving about meeting Jimmie Boy in the fur and also Ms. Marge's boy, Scooter. Geez! Thanks for rubbing it in...
She also got Pawsome gifts from Ms. Marge and Auntie Patti. She keeps flaunting the Poochie purse and has great fun with the Yorkie Coloring Book and the crayon box ♥ What a lucky girl!
