Lake Drive Improvements Phase 1
The first phase of the Lake Drive Improvements project will transform how we safely enjoy this popular stretch of road. This summer, residents and visitors will notice changes as the Town implements a new seasonal multi-use pathway (MUP) on Lake Drive East from Civic Centre Road to South Drive. Vehicles will travel one-way eastbound along this same length of Lake Drive East. Construction begins in May with the improvements in place for use prior to June 27. Bag Tag Exemption Week
Take advantage of Bag Tag Exemption Week from May 20 to 23. Georgina residents can put out up to five untagged bags, items or containers for collection. Large non-recyclable household items are included in the program. Items that cannot be collected include refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers and hot water tanks. Please note that your collection day will move one day later due to Victoria Day. May long weekend reminders
A reminder to residents that the Civic Centre will be closed on Monday, May 19 for the Victoria Day holiday. Waste and recycling collection including Bag Take Exemption week will move one day later for that week. Street sweeping
Street sweeping has started and occurs on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents are asked to avoid parking on Town streets during this time to allow sweepers to clean the roadway. To learn more, visit georgina.ca/StreetSweeping.

Online parking pass
Residents and property owners can apply to get their resident parking pass instantly using the Town’s online portal at parking.georgina.ca. Residents can get up to four passes per household. If you are presented with the message "The street address you entered is not recognized within this system," after logging into your account, delete and re-type your address and select your street name from the drop-down list. Parking passes must be displayed on the dashboard while parked in areas where required by signage. To learn more, visit georgina.ca/ParkingPass.
Note: paid parking at waterfront parks is in effect as of May 17, if you do not have a resident pass.

Emergency Preparedness Week
May 4 to 10 is Emergency Preparedness Week. Safety starts with being prepared and having a plan. Everyone has a part to play in preparing for emergencies. Emergency Preparedness Week is a national event that educates communities throughout the province about actions people can take to prepare for emergencies. The 2025 theme, "Plan for every season," highlights Ontario's seasonal challenges. This aligns with the national theme "Be Prepared. Know Your Risks." For details, visit georgina.ca/fire.

Home Fire Sprinkler Week
May 11 to 17 is Home Fire Sprinkler Week. Let's raise awareness about the life-saving benefits of home fire sprinklers, which significantly reduce the threat of home fires, prevent injuries and save lives. Burn permits
Are you planning to burn brush or tree limbs? Know before you burn – a burn permit may be required. Check the Town’s open-air burning bylaw for requirements. Residents are reminded to have a valid 2025 burn permit when burning brush or tree branches. Recreational fires to roast marshmallows and hot dogs do not require a permit. Keep in mind these fires must be no larger than 2’ x 2’ and be at least 23’ away from anything that can burn and property lines. To learn more and apply for a permit, visit georgina.ca/BurnPermit.

Farm 911
In the event of a farm accident, every second counts. However, it can be challenging for first responders to locate people needing assistance without clear address markers. The Farm 911 Emily Project encourages rural property owners to place their civic address at the entrance of their property to improve emergency response times. The project's Access Point initiative assigns yellow 911 property numbers to farms that do not have a designated green number. To learn more or apply, visit georgina.ca/Farm911.
