EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF SUMMER SIPPER ON JUNE 23RD
|
|
You are invited to join us on Sunday, June 23rd for the 5th Annual Summer Sipper, a neighborhood reception-style event hosted each year by Lincoln Central Association with the assistance of neighborhood businesses who help support our initiatives.
The first Summer Sipper held in 2015 featured a potluck table with neighbors bringing dishes and/or beverages prepared with or inspired by items grown in the gardens at Fire Station Park.
|
Although neighborhood food and beverage establishments now participate in the event, the potluck remains one of the most popular aspects of Summer Sipper. Read more below.

A TASTE OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
The Summer Sipper Potluck
|
The potluck table has become one of the most popular aspects of Summer Sipper. It is not a traditional potluck in that there is no requirement (or even expectation) that attendees must bring a dish.
Many neighbors, however, enjoy preparing dishes to share with other neighbors using (or inspired by) herbs and other items grown in the gardens at Fire Station Park.
We welcome you to join in the fun and share your creations if you are so inclined. If not, you will be graciously welcomed to enjoy dishes prepared by others. Either way, we hope to see you in the Park on Sunday, June 23rd at the 5th Annul Summer Sipper.
Immediately below, you can see what's growing in the community gardens at Fire Station Park.

ABOUT:
IF I FORGET
Meet the Fischers
By Kathy Jordan
|
|
Even the most loving families can find themselves disagreeing about issues, especially as they grow older and see each other less often.
Gathered for their father’s 75th birthday are a brother and two sisters, plus other members of the Fischer family. The Fischers find themselves disagreeing on a variety of subjects—the mental health of a daughter, the behavior of a son, the views on Judaism of the brother (the family is Jewish), the father’s store. A second get-together produces another issue—how to provide adequate care for their aging father.
Called “passionate and provoking” by The New York Times, the story is told with dry wit as the Fischer family discovers new things about each other and works to solve their differences in ways that will satisfy all of them. The play is scheduled to run through July 7.

Bauler Playlot Park
|
Every June 21st, Make Music Chicago brings together Chicagoans to celebrate their ability to make music, regardless of age, ability or preferred musical style.
This year as part of Make Music Chicago, three musical acts will perform at Bauler Playlot Park on June 21st on the schedule shown below:
|
|
FRIDAY, JUNE 21ST
3:45 PM
Bauler Playlot Park
|
Formed in the summer of ’16,
The Fifth Star Band
is a youthful group of raconteurs looking to make their impact on the music landscape with their soulful jazzy twist on American Traditional Rock.
|
The unique sound
The Fifth Star Band
has been able to cultivate is largely due to the diverse musical backgrounds each member of the group brings to the table.
While at its core,
Jordan Sawyer
’s songwriting embodies a modern take on American Traditional Rock, throw in some funky bass licks, a strong jazzy beat, and a smooth dose of
Eric Pedone
's sax and you get a sound unlike any other.
