As is customary, the congregation presents a gift to a new rector to celebrate his/her installation. For Lauren, we wish to have a Cope added to the vestments of the church.
A "Cope" is a liturgical vestment, typically worn by clergy for processions, blessings, and other liturgical functions. Essentially it is a full-length cloak worn over vestments that is removed before the beginning of a Eucharist service. How appropriate it is given our patron saint gave away half of his cloak in service to another.
