Women's Day
Here is my article in honor of women everywhere in the World;
YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE!
Recently I have seen lots of Data regarding Men and Boys and how they are not doing well.
Apparently they are lagging behind women in many metrics including #'s of men going or completing college and employment #'s
There are whole books written about it. John recommends; Of Boys and Men by Richard V. Reeves.
A recent article about Feminism,by Kareem Abdul Jabar in his substack blog, is telling.
Apparently Men, like Joe Rogan, are making in roads with their special brand of Mysoginy. They are affecting Gen Z males who want to blame Feminism for their inability to get ahead or see a path for themselves.
I want to say to all of these young men;
WELCOME TO MY WORLD! what do you think life was like for me and my generation.Mostly because men stood in the way and in some cases purposely blocked the way.
Women on the other hand, are not doing that to men, in fact we are trying to help you. But you won't accept our help in fact there are many cases of you refusing our help.To our credit our Feminism does not direct us to take revenge out on the very sex who harmed us.
To all the Women Moving Forward® grads out there please do not internalize this crap. We are not to blame for men's problems nor is "Feminism" to blame.
If men are ill equipped to deal with the world as it is then they and their predecessors are to blame NOT US.
And let me make this personal. I have to sons. Was it and is it my responsibility to help them grow up to be healthy and happy
of course it was. But it was also John's responsibility to have them be good men.
By the way,as of the 2024 International Women's Day we are still not equal. Feminism is defined as "the belief in social, economic and political equality of the sexes" every man, woman and child should be feminists!
Canada, France, Ireland, Sweden and Spain
quarantee, in law, women's equal rights.Women in those countries may still be discriminated against but it is at least illegal to do so.
The US does not either in law or practice protect women's equal rights.
For example The Equal Rights Amendment
proposed in 1923 has not been adopted 100 years later. 38 States have ratified it
but it still has not become a part of the constitution because it is blocked by a right wing political backlash.
What we need to do in 2024 so we have women's equality quaranteed is to not vote for people from either party that do not respect our rights. Ask your candidates if they support the ERA it is a good litmus test.
Worldwide we need to make sure women get visibility and opportunities no matter where they live or work.
