Dear Students,

We hope you enjoyed seeing your classmates in the above video! As many of you know, we have been working hard over the past few years to improve the spaces available to our students.

This summer, the Clinical Sciences Building (CSB) at the Parnassus Campus reopened with an added multi-purpose room, as well as 14 new classrooms and plenty of study nooks for private and group study. You can now also walk directly from Parnassus Avenue to the Medical Student Lounge and Saunders Court through the Holly Smith Gateway.

Below is a visual overview of the new spaces opened to you in recent years.
Campus Relaxation and Study Spaces
Just before the COVID 19 outbreak in 2020, the following spaces were upgraded for improved student campus study space. The campus installed couches for student use in the lobby of the Medical Sciences Building, renovated the ‘loft’ above Ladle and Leaf, and refreshed spaces in the Kalmanovitz Library.

Campus Storage Space for Your Belongings

We installed 231 lockers on the fourth and fifth floors of the Medical Sciences Building to provide a secure location for you to store your belongings while on the Parnassus campus. In addition, you have secure spaces to store belongings at the Kanbar Center and in the Anatomy lab. For more information about lockers on Parnassus, please contact Dennis Chan.

Reaccreditation and Thank You!
We are always thinking about ways we can improve your educational experiences, whether it’s virtually or in person. Next week November 1-8, Interim Associate Dean for Students, John Davis, will be asking you to complete a quick two-minute survey on the spaces available to you, as well your awareness of medical student mistreatment and clinical work hour policies.

This survey is essential for the next stage in our national accreditation. We hope you will take the time to fill out the survey.

Each student in classes that achieve at least 80% participation by November 8th will receive a $10 Amazon gift card or La Cocina Marketplace gift card, and the class with the highest participation will receive a "Class Bonus" via an additional $25 Amazon gift card or La Cocina Marketplace gift card for each student.

Thank you for being our partners in improving learning, gathering, and space at UCSF.
