2015 Hemmings Motor News Great Race
AOCA members, Larry Read and Scotti Lee recently participated in the 2015 Hemmings Motor News Great Race. Read and Lee, along with Joe Perkins and their 1939 Buick, also known as Blue92, made their way along the old Route 66 from Kirkwood, Missouri to Santa Monica, California. The Great Race is an antique, vintage and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed, it is a test of the team's ability to follow precise course instructions and endure on a cross-country trip. One hundred and twenty vintage cars made this year's historical nine-day cross-country trip through the vigorous terrain. The Blue92 team participated in the rookie division, finishing 5th out of 40 teams and 39th overall. A total of 28 cars were unable to finish the race. For more information on The Great Race, please visit www.greatrace.com. If you are interested in participating in The Great Race next year, please contact Larry Read for more information.
