January 12, 2020 ~ Building Community One Positive Story at a Time
Taunton River Watershed Alliance
The TRWA is an advocate for environmental protection, sustainable development, and responsible stewardship of our precious water resources. They are an Alliance of concerned residents, businesses, and organizations united to restore and properly manage water and related natural resources within the Taunton River Watershed. This watershed includes the 43 communities, including Raynham.  Here is the full list. Their mission is to protect and restore the watershed’s natural resources for current and future generations; to build and support responsible stewardship of fragile ecosystems, water quality, forests, farmland, and wetlands; provide opportunities for people to enjoy the river and the watershed’s open space; and to be voice for threatened land and water resources. For more information about the watershed:  savethetaunton.org. Below are the 2020 Board of Directors.

Historical Tidbit:
Raynham Public Library

In 1888, 93 citizens of Raynham formed the Raynham Library Association, the foundation for today's public library.

The library was housed in various locations around the town until 1949 when the present building was dedicated. In 1961, the lower floor was transformed into a Children's Room.  The facility was expanded in 1971. When the latest addition was completed in 1991, it brought the total footage to 6,288 square feet.
The library continues today as a 501c non-profit organization, but receives its major funding from the Town of Raynham. The library is governed by a board of twelve Trustees headed by a President. The Trustees are elected from the membership of the Raynham Library Association. Any resident of Raynham is eligible for membership in the Association. The library became a member of the SAILS network in August 2001.

Shoveling Tips for a Healthy Spine
• Layer clothing to keep your muscles warm and flexible.
• Do some warm-up stretching before you grab that shovel.
• Push the snow straight ahead. Walk it to the snow bank. Avoid sudden twisting and turning motions.
• Bend your knees to lift when shoveling. Let the muscles of your legs and arms do the work, not your back.
• Take frequent rest breaks to take the strain off your muscles. A fatigued body asks for injury.
• Stop if you feel chest pain, get tired or have shortness of breath.
