You Can Never DO What Christ Has DONE
|
Did you know that when you consider all the religions in the world, there are really only two kinds of faith? One is trusting what the Lord Jesus Christ has DONE to save sinners completely; the other is trusting what man must DO to be saved. Trusting in what Christ has DONE puts believers on the narrow way that leads to eternal life, while trusting in what you must DO puts you on the broad road that leads to destruction (Mat. 7:13-14). Everything the all-sufficient Savior has DONE is gloriously revealed throughout the Bible, while trusting in what man must DO opposes the Word of God (Rom. 11:6).
Christ Has DONE What You Can Never Do
Good works and religious rituals can never satisfy divine justice for sin because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The second death is separation from God in the eternal fires of hell (Isaiah 59:2; Revelation 20:14). Hell is eternal because divine justice requires full payment for sins committed against our infinitely holy God. There is absolutely nothing guilty condemned sinners can DO to pay the eternal sin debt. However, what a finite man could never DO, the eternal Son of God has DONE. The eternal sin debt was nailed to His cross (Col. 2:13-14). Jesus Christ, who is God’s perfect man and man’s perfect God, died as a substitute to satisfy divine justice for those who trust Him alone. Thus, man's only hope is to exchange his worthless religion of works for an eternal relationship with God through Jesus, the one mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2:5).
Will Knowledge of the Truth Change Your Faith?
The nature of deception is such that people never know they are deceived until they are confronted with the truth. No one will try to get on the narrow way that leads to life until they know they are on the broad way that leads to destruction. No one will seek a substitute to die in their place until they know they are condemned to death. No one will seek a Savior until they know they are destined for the torments of hell. No one will seek to be reconciled to God until they know they are separated from Him. No one can receive the righteousness of Christ as a gift until they are first stripped of their own righteousness. No one will appreciate what the Lord Jesus has DONE until they realize how utterly hopeless and helpless they are to DO anything about it. The glorious Gospel of grace is to believe what Christ has DONE and repent of what man thinks he must DO.
You Need to Know What Christ Has DONE
- He is the way for those who are lost. He is the truth for those who are deceived. He is life to those who are spiritually dead (John 14:6)
- He testified to the truth and truth seekers listen to Him (John 18:37)
- He is the only Savior for sinners (Acts 4:12)
- He bore His people's sin in His body on the cross (1 Peter 2:24)
- He makes believers perfect forever (Heb. 10:14)
- He canceled the eternal sin debt of believers (Col. 2:13-14)
- He reconciles believers to God (2 Cor. 5:18-20)
- He redeems believers from the curse of the law (Gal. 3:13)
- He saves people forever from God's wrath (Heb. 7:25;1 Thes. 5:9)
- He gave His life as a ransom for many (Mat. 20:28)
- He satisfied divine justice as a sacrifice for sin (1 John 2:2)
- He shed His blood to purify His people from all sin (1 John 1:7)
- He died once for all sins to bring believers to God (1 Peter 3:18)
- He offered one sacrifice for all sins for all time (Heb. 10:12)
- He saved believers from divine condemnation (Rom. 8:1)
- He delivered His people from the dominion of Satan (Acts 26:18)
- He rescued believers from the domain of darkness and transferred them into His kingdom (Col. 1:13)
- He was resurrected from the dead, giving every believer a living hope and an inheritance in heaven protected by God's power (1 Peter 1:3-5)
How Will You Respond to What Christ Has DONE?
After the Lord Jesus had DONE everything necessary to save sinners completely and forever, He cried out in victory, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Only those who trust what the Lord Jesus has DONE can receive the gift of eternal life. It can never be merited by what man thinks he must DO because it would never be enough. God does not save people based on the deeds they DO (Titus 3:5). “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph. 2:8-9). Knowing this, will you repent of your dead works, which are an insult to the perfect, finished and sufficient work of Christ? Will you come to the Lord Jesus with empty hands of faith, bringing nothing but your sins?
This Is What You Can DO After God Saves You
After you have been reconciled to God by trusting in what Christ has DONE, you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to DO the good works He has prepared for you (Eph. 2:10). What you DO for God as a born-again Christian will be motivated by your love and thanksgiving for all Christ has DONE. “Whatever you DO, in word or deed, DO everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him" (Col. 3:17).
Our Awesome Responsibility and Divine Privilege
The article above, which proclaims the glorious Gospel of God, is available in our latest Gospel tract which you can share with everyone in your circle of influence. Remember, every Christian has been commissioned by our Lord Jesus to go and make disciples (Mat. 28:18-20). We have been appointed ambassadors for the King of kings! Our Savior has given us the royal privilege of pleading with people to be reconciled to God (2 Cor. 5:18-21). As the Day of our Lord approaches, may God give us all a sense of urgency to rescue those who are perishing. Perhaps you would like to copy this newsletter and email it to any friends or loved ones who think they can merit salvation by their works.

Letters to Edify and Encourage the Saints
|
I grew up Catholic in Northern Ireland and all I can say is the Lord has guided me to you. I prayed to Our Lord for guidance and continued with my Rosary but my instinct was telling me something doesn't feel right. I wish I could explain to you how I found you but truly it's by our Lord. I have listened to almost all of your work. I am so blessed and feel such peace. You have answered all my questions. I put away my Rosary beads, dusted off my Bible and felt so moved that I had to send you this message. I do need some direction. Thanks for you help. H.M., Northern Ireland
Mike, Protestantism is a heresy and a perversion of the truth. Ironically, you’re a follower of men and traditions. You’re a follower of Luther, Zwingli, Calvin and other Reformist thinkers. When push comes to shove, your only support for Protestant dogma relies on the traditions of the Reformers, none of whom had authority to change doctrine of the Church. Coming from Protestantism to Catholicism, I consider you an apostate. Who would you think I’d follow, the Church founded by Christ or those founded by men beginning in the 16th century? Dan, Internet
Hi Dan, People never know they are deceived until they are confronted with the truth. That is what happened to the Reformers when they began studying God's Word. They knew they had to repent from Catholic traditions and submit to the authority of God's Word. Please know that I build my theology on the inspired Word of God, not the uninspired words of the Reformers. An apostate is one who has departed from the faith of the apostles, which is the body of truth that was signed, sealed, and delivered in the first century (Jude 3). The RC Church looks nothing like the church founded by Christ because it departed from the authority of God's Word to follow doctrines of demons (1 Tim. 4:1-3). You would do well to abide in God's Word so you can know the truth that could set you free from religious bondage and deception (John 8:31-32).
Hi Mike, Last month was a great newsletter! Reading it brought back wonderful memories of my time with you, watching you witness by bringing someone into self-examination by the very methods you describe in the newsletter. I think about how we opted to share a table for six or eight in the dining room of a cruise ship and you steered the conversation into meaningful spiritual matters by asking these types of questions. At several ports, we engaged the Jehovah Witnesses by asking questions about the conflicts between the Watchtower doctrines and Scripture. You engaged other tourists on the street, as well as the locals, with the same "questions" approach. And how we were asked to leave the Catholic church office in St. Marten's because of their reluctance to think about the answers to your questions. I greatly miss those moments and hope we can have more of them soon! D.P., New Alexandria, PA

Thousands of Rosaries Sent to Ukraine
|
Goya Foods CEO Bob Unanue and a woman who makes rosaries in Texas have teamed up to send a message of faith and strength for the Ukrainians. In an interview on Fox News, Unanue called this "the miracle of the rosaries." He said, "It's the intercession of our mother Mary," referencing Shannon Hasse's work to collect more than 10,000 rosaries for the people of Ukraine who have fled to Poland amid Russia's invasion of their country. "One rosary turned into over 15,000 rosaries and growing," he said, announcing how his company is going to bring the rosaries to those who need a gift of faith and care. Unanue also said, "I have tremendous hope that through the intercession of Mary [that] this is the greatest weapon against evil and moving toward God." Hasse said that this all came about because of "the Holy Spirit." She said, "I feel that the Blessed Mother, the Immaculata, is everywhere. Flowing from the eyes and the tears of the children, even Putin, to take his heart and make it soft. Make it a heart of love." Watch the Fox News report here.
Mike's Comment: The rosary, and its 53 prayers to Mary, is an offense to God and runs contrary to Scripture. Only God can hear and answer our prayers. Jesus is the only mediator and we pray in His name, not Mary's.

Are Indulgences Still Sold to Forgive Sins?
|
People assume that since Martin Luther first protested the abuse of indulgences in 1517, that Rome must have been shamed into ending the practice. She was not. The sale of indulgences continues. John Calvin called the Roman system of indulgences a “Satanic mockery” intended to lead people away from Christ. It has had that effect. Any system that has Christians satisfying God for their own sins denies Christ.
The most common indulgence that is purchased by Catholics is the sacrifice of the Mass to get their loved ones out of the purging fires of Purgatory. The names of the people benefiting from the Mass are usually placed in the weekly church bulletin. During the Catholic Mass, the priest is said to be propitiating (turning away) God’s wrath by extending the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Rome confesses that God graciously initiates salvation but that we must do our part to complete it. Read the article on indulgences from TableTalk Magazine here.

Who Is the Woman Riding the Beast?
|
Jan Markell interviewed apologist Mike Gendron about prophetic events during a recent broadcast. Together they discussed the coming global religious system that will be an abomination and have nothing to do with God. Who will be a part of this one-world religion? Could Pope Francis be the third member of the unholy trinity as the False Prophet who points the world to the Antichrist? Could the Roman Catholic Church be the woman who rides the beast in Revelation? Watch the interview here.

Pope Consecrates Russia & Ukraine to Mary
|
Pope Francis laid the fates of Russia and Ukraine at the feet of Mary as he consecrated both countries to her Immaculate heart. He pleaded with Mary to accept this act on March 25th in St. Peter's Basilica. The pope prayed, "O Mary, Mother of God and our mother, in this time of trial we turn to you. As our mother, you love us and know us: No concern of our hearts is hidden from you. Mother of mercy, how often we have experienced your watchful care and your peaceful presence...to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine. Accept this act that we carry out with confidence and love. Grant that war may end and peace spread throughout the world." Read the article here.
Mike's Comment: The pope needs to read Psalm 115:4-8 which states: "Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them." Nowhere in the Bible do we see godly men praying to anyone other than almighty God. Nowhere in the Bible are we called to entrust our lives to anyone other than God.
