Lending a Helping Hand
Last Friday, right before the start of the long weekend, a few employees at the Mendon office noticed an old Winnebago that was unable to make it up the hill on Route 4.

Dan Caputo, Jeff Chase, Jeremy Fowler, and Ryan Rampolla came to the driver's rescue, towing him into the Casella Construction yard. As it turns out, the man was trying to get to Maine to attend his father's funeral. Jeff gave the man directions to get to Maine using a flatter route, and the man continued on his way.

Safety Topic: Equipment Inspections
Performing thorough inspections of your off-road and on-road equipment before operation is important. There have been cases where a pre-operation inspection could have prevented problems such as tires coming off/going flat, mechanical failures, lighting issues, windshield damage or other unidentified damage.
When performing equipment inspections, be sure to utilize the equipment checklist which can be found inside the cab in a weatherproof document holder.

Check that there aren't any obvious problems, and that all areas are working correctly. Never run equipment if a problem is found; it can result in someone getting hurt or damage to the equipment.
Thank you for your diligence with equipment inspections, we appreciate your help in maintaining our industry-leading fleet.
Can you answer the question from this week's safety discussion?
Which is a false statement about equipment inspections?
The yellow copy of the form stays with the unit
Marking an "X" next to an item means it needs attention
Inspections must be performed weekly
Full books must be returned to the Mendon Shop
