Are you ready to thrive this semester? Our top CUNY life hacks:
✅ Apply for an ePermit to take a class at a different CUNY college if your college doesn't have a particular class you'd like to take or you just want a change of scenery.

📩 Read the CUNY Brief! Twice a week, you’ll get this newsletter with important updates, resources and student opportunities.

👔 Research our CUNY Corps work programs. Students can get paid to gain invaluable work experience through programs like CUNY Service Corps, CUNY Tutor Corps and CUNY Cultural Corps.

🎓 Track DegreeWorks, found in CUNYfirst. It will help you monitor your credits and requirements to make sure you're on track to graduate.

🍎 Learn about CUNY food pantries, which are now open to all students. You can visit any pantry regardless of which campus you attend.

📚 Make use of CUNY libraries, which are open to all students with a CUNY ID. Find library locations where you can borrow books and other materials and access an array of useful databases.

📱 Download the Blackboard app on your phone and allow notifications to remind you of assignments, readings, announcements from professors and more.

☎️ Make sure you will receive important news alerts by updating your contact information in CUNYfirst. To do this, go into "Student Center" and select "Personal Information." Subscribe to receive CUNY Alerts through the "CUNY Alert Subscription" section.
💉 #VaxUpCUNY
• The FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine on 8/23/21, which means students now have until 9/27 to upload proof of vaccination to CUNYfirst so it can be reviewed and approved. Review our redesigned coronavirus page for the latest guidance.
New Deadlines:
📆 Moderna vaccine: First dose by TOMORROW, August 26
📆 Pfizer vaccine: First dose by September 2
📆 Johnson & Johnson vaccine: Single dose by September 23
📆 Upload proof of vaccination by September 27
• Walk into most vaccination sites or make an appointment in advance.

Juvanie Piquant
Juvanie Piquant, City Tech ’22, serves as the CUNY Student Trustee and Chairperson of the University Student Senate, representing all 500,000+ students. The first Haitian-American woman in the role, she also serves on City Tech’s student government and has worked with NYPIRG. Juvanie is a law and paralegal studies major who aspires to be an attorney.
What drives Juvanie? “Think about what you can do for the greater community, beyond yourself. There is so much that we can do to bring our communities together, and it starts with us.”
