This year our annual event, Silver Linings, will be held virtually, allowing all to attend, wherever you are!

Learn how Morrison continues to meet the community where they are, and how we are innovating for the future. Our highlights this year include:
  • Outpatient services, which are needed now more than ever.
  • Our Equity & Inclusion efforts now and over the past 3 years.
  • Our Response to Covid-19 since last March's in-person Silver Linings lunch.
This online gathering will be celebrating supporters (you!) who make our programs and services possible, especially during this time of intense need. This is your opportunity to help kids be kids and families stay together, all from the comfort of home.

Pre-Show starts at 11:30am, with a highlight on 3 of our programs.

Main Event is from 12pm to 1pm.

Black History Month:
Highlighting Racial History

Morrison and our Equity Advisory Council are excited to launch this new campaign, celebrating the history and culture of underrepresented groups in America.

We are hopeful that this campaign will prevent members of Morrison's community from feeling the way that Baldwin expressed.

As many are aware, February is Black History Month in the US. The declaration for Black History Month was made by President Gerald Ford in 1976.

So, how did Black History Month originate? According to Time, the idea of Black History Month, originally a week, was started by Carter G Woodson, a noted African American Historian, scholar, educator, and publisher, in 1926. He chose the 2nd week of February to include the celebration of birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, both important historical figures.

Morrison's Equity Advisory Council (EAC) aspires to present accurate knowledge about the experiences and contributions of all racial and ethnic groups that are part of American history; and that it is seamlessly captured, recorded, and reported as a whole. In support of that hope, the EAC is commemorating Black History Month by launching an ongoing series of racial history. Each quarter we will publish historical highlights of a featured cultural group, starting with Black/African Americans.

Look for our spotlight in Morrison's next newsletter and on our social media platforms to learn more.
The Rotary Youth Center is Open

Announcing the opening of the Rotary Youth Center at Morrison!

Our new youth center on Sandy Blvd, made possible by our incredible donors and the Rotary Club of Portland's once-a-decade grant, provides a physical and emotional space for growth, healing, joy, and recreation for our kids.

From ideation and fundraising, through construction, landscaping, and mural by a local artist, this building is an example of how the Portland and Oregon community came together to support Morrison and our kids for years into the future.

December Holiday Giving Recap

Thank You!

Thanks to you and your donations, we were able to fill all of our Holiday Giving 2020 winter wishes this season, bringing joy to over 1,300 kids and teens in our programs!

Respecting physical distancing, we switched out our past approach of gathering individual presents for our kids in favor of providing them with $25 gift cards.

Thanks to the employees of our corporate supporters, and individuals across social media, we ensured that every child had a winter gift in 2020.
