Decoy Limited Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2022

Country: USA

Region: Sonoma Coast, California

Grapes: 100% Chardonnay

Aging: Aged 8 months in stainless steel and 100% French oak barrels 30% new, 70% neutral

Alcohol: 14.2%

"Established in 1985 by legendary vintners Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, our roots run deep at Decoy. Building on our rich winemaking heritage, we invite you to experience Decoy Limited."

Winery notes: Crafted using grapes from some of the most acclaimed Sonoma Coast vineyards, including our own estate properties, this wine is the ultimate expression of Decoy Chardonnay.

Tasting notes: Capturing the purity and polish of the finest Sonoma Coast Chardonnays, this wine draws you in with luxurious aromas of ripe Meyer lemon, butterscotch, sweet white peach, tangerine and light oak spice. On the palate, smooth, round tannins and an ideal balance between oak and acidity frame the lush tropical and stone fruit flavors while carrying the wine to a long, delicious finish.

92 Points James Suckling

"Lots of matchstick with steel, dried apples and some Meyer lemon. Medium body, with lots of flinty and intense flavors. Grows on the palate. A fascinating wine." -James Suckling

Pairing: Perfect for Thanksgiving! The roasted flavors of the turkey and the buttery mashed potatoes and rolls will excite the taste buds when paired with the wine’s slight creaminess while the flavors of apple and lemon will balance nicely with the cranberry sauce.

Foppiano Russian River Valley Petite Sirah 2021

Country: USA

Region: Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California

Grapes: 100% Petite Sirah

Aging: 24 months in new, once-used and neutral French and American oak

Alcohol: 14.7%

Fun fact: Petite Sirah is the US term for the French grape Durif, so it is not Syrah at all.

Winery Notes: The 2021 vintage provided us with some of the best wines we have had to work with in creating our Estate Petite Sirah. Full of incredible aromatics, complex flavors and deep color, we were thrilled with the outcome. Several years of drought and low yields concentrated the intricacies on the palate, resulting in something we can only describe as profound. This vintage, and the wine’s aging, has shown quality evolution over time and will continue to improve in the bottle.

Tasting Notes: The 2021 Petite Sirah is a sophisticated and sumptuous example of the varietal, one of the most complex examples of Petite Sirah you will find. Blueberry and baked huckleberry lead the aromas, with a hint of white pepper, dried herbs and toasted bread. The flavors mimic the aromas with a substantial mid-pallet of blueberry, black tea, baked cherry, fruit preserves and licorice. The wine finishes with pie crust, oak spice and tannins developing into a pleasant textural polish.

Wine Enthusiast - 91 Points

Pairing: Pour a glass of this rich red wine with your turkey dinner. This one will compliment the flavors of the classic turkey with herb infused stuffing and will also pair nicely with rich roasted or buttery mashed potatoes, bacon and brussels sprouts, or Macaroni & Cheese, Lasagna, Brisket and Lamb.

Our Price: $27.00

Antiche Terre Amarone della Valpolicella 2021

Country: Italy

Region: Veneto

Grapes: Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella.

Aging:  oak barriques for the aging period of 12-18 months

Alcohol: 15%

Winemakers notes: The noblest of wines, produced from the best grapes harvested by hand. The grapes are placed in crates and undergo a period drying for 4 months. The drying concentrates the sugar content and is a big part of the Amarone secret. The thick juice obtained from the pressing of the dried grapes is then left to ferment slowly over a period ranging from 15 to 20 days. The wine obtained is then placed in stainless steel tanks, where the malolactic fermentation is completed. Following this process, the wine is transferred into oak barriques for the aging period of 12-18 months.

92 Points - James Suckling

Deep garnet color with aromas of plum, cherry and hints of raspberry. On the palate it is full-bodied yet soft with lingering aromatics on the finish.

Wine Spectator 91

"A rich red, with creamy tannins and juicy acidity, showing an expressive range of fig cake, sun-dried black cherry, coffee liqueur, dried thyme and smoke flavors. A balanced crowd-pleaser. Drink now through 2031. Tasted twice, with consistent notes." — AN

Pairing: With its intense, full-bodied flavors of ripe cherries, and dried fruits, Amarone balances the heartiness of roasted turkey, savory stuffing, and creamy sides. Its velvety texture and warming spice notes are a delightful complement to the warmth of the season.

Just like with food, consumers are becoming more discerning about the provenance and production methods of their favorite spirits. Taking a brilliant cue from the farm-to-table food movement, Bridgeport-based, Fifth State Distillery works with 4th generation Connecticut farmers to source non-GMO corn both responsibly and sustainably.

The result? Hand-crafted, small-batch gins, whiskeys, unique flavored vodkas, and liqueurs made from the highest quality ingredients. “None of our products have artificial colors, added sugar, citric acid, or added flavors,” says Rob Schulten, Co-Founder & Distiller at Fifth State.
