AVOW Participants Build Confidence Through Hands-On Learning
Participants in our Advocating for the Voices of Women (AVOW) program, made possible through funding from Impact100 Garden State, recently took part in a hands-on workshop at The Home Depot in Clifton, where they learned basic tool use and simple home repair skills.
During the session, participants practiced minor sheetrock repair, installing fixtures, energy-saving techniques, and identifying when it's time to call a professional. Beyond gaining technical knowledge, the workshop built confidence, independence, and a stronger sense of self-reliance.
Thanks to our partners at Home Depot, each participant received a fully stocked toolbox to continue practicing their new skills at home. By equipping women with practical knowledge and tangible resources, workshops like this advance long-term housing stability and empower participants to maintain safe, sustainable homes for themselves and their families.
