Have You Hugged Our PAC FaceBook Lately?

You Matter Kauai, Wed, Oct 8, 5:30- 8pm

Apologies for email on two consecutive days. I erred in yesterday's blast saying the You Matter Kauai event was in the distant future...when it's actually tomorrow. My apologies.

Join us for an evening of inspiration, hope, and strategies to save lives in our community.

5:30| Pre-Show Entertainment

Garden Island Dance * Chris & Rami Donahoe – Founders of You Matter Kaua‘i, attorney and licensed school counselor, singing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” * Dr. Val – Former Purdue University Golden Girl, Christian therapist * Robbi Castillo-Contrades – English teacher at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, with opening remarks

6:00 PM | Keynote Presentation

Dr. Kenneth “Lou” Koon – Chaplain, Author, and founder of the Intervene Challenge.

Dr. Koon is a nationally recognized expert in suicide prevention and licensed trainer. With compelling stories and proven strategies, he will empower us to intervene, bring hope, and keep our loved ones from leaving us before their time.

Together, let’s take action to save lives!

Kauai's Cultural Champions

Lori Benkert

Lori is currently the Board President of KCP and has been involved with the organization for the last 11 years. Lori started her theatre life in Anchorage Alaska as a board member and then president of Alaska Theatre of Youth. She got involved due to her son Dylan who got the theatre bug at age 11 and went to do many shows in the Anchorage area. She was then a producer for Theatre Artist United which is a production company dedicated to classic musicals.

Lori has Directed " Dog Sees God" at KCP and stage managed over 15 local shows. She is currently stage managing and board liaison for Rocky Horror. " Rocky is one of my favorite fun shows. I have seen it over 100 times and am excited we are honoring its 50 year anniversary." Lori is also the Past President of Zonta Club of Kauai and Owner/Broker of Waioli Properties. She lives in Lihue with her dog Ember and is looking forward to her wedding in February of 2026 to Jerry Pate.

Lori was one of the leading proponents in successfully launching the cooperation between the PAC and KCP, and especially the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Rocky Horror which will have three performances at the PAC, Friday, Oct 24 at 7pm and 11:59pm (essentially midnight) and Sat, Oct 25 at 7pm.
