Hose Crimper Training
Training + Technology
Continental, our hose manufacturer and Applied, our hose and fitting supplier, joined us for a morning of training on the hose crimp machine.
We all downloaded a new app for making hydraulic hoses on our phones and shop ipads. This app allows for better quality control and more information while building a new hose. So you will see in some of the pictures people are looking at their phones. It is not out of boredom - it was part of the training!
We also learned about new machines coming available in the future that will help us keep up with demand.
Everyone took turns going through the process of selecting a hose, matching the fittings to the hose, selecting the correct crimping die, crimping the fittings on the hose, and measuring the crimps at three points to ensure a full crimp.
Those who participated enjoyed learning something new, and the training ensured that the entire shop is now on the same page.

Safety Topic: Safe Lifting Practices
Prevent Injuries Caused by Improper Lifting
Always evaluate the situation whenever you are about to lift or move materials, tools, or heavy equipment.

If there is any doubt that you cannot safely and properly lift something, you should seek assistance or find another method to achieve your goal.

If you decide that you can lift the item, always make sure to follow proper safety procedures while doing so:
  • Bend your knees and not your waist. This helps you keep your center of balance and lets your leg muscles do the lifting.

  • “Hug the load” by trying to hold the object as close to your body as possible and gradually straighten into a standing position.

  • Avoid twisting as it can overload your spine and lead to serious injury. Make sure your feet, knees, and torso are pointed in the same direction when you are lifting.

Good Catch / Near Miss Winner of the Month!
Marc Rozell is our September Good Catch Winner of the month!

Marc was walking by the F450 rack truck and noticed a broken leaf spring that slid out of place.

Marc brought this to the attention of his supervisor so that they could put in a maintenance request to have it fixed before the broken leaf spring could cause any issues.
Great catch Marc, thank you!
