Resources for a Holy and Life-Giving Lent
Love Changes Everything: From Ashes to Alleluia: Lent 2021

The season of Lent is a time of spiritual renewal when we are invited to deepen our awareness of God’s presence in our lives and draw closer to God. Traditionally Christians have done this by making sacrifices or fasting from some food, drink, or activity to sharpen our sense of God’s love as the primary foundation of our lives. For nearly a year, we have abstained from so many of life’s joys that it has felt like one long season of Lent and ashes.

So this year, we are imagining our Lenten journey as the movement from Ashes to Alleluia. Instead of giving up something more, we invite you to bring your sense of loss and weariness to God, trusting that the God who loves us will raise us from ashes to
alleluias.
Weekly Worship and Reflection - We will be considering the journey from - Ashes to Alleluia through six steps, centering on one step for each week of Lent.

1. Rest in God’s love
2. Name before God our losses and our weariness
3. Share our psalms of grief with God
4. Turn to God for comfort and light
5. Notice what new life God is stirring in us
6. Prepare to sing Alleluia, our Easter song

Guidance for this journey is available each week after Compline on Wednesday, reflecting for 30 minutes on a brief bible passage. You are welcome to participate in any or all of these reflections. The bible passage and questions for the week will also be available in the eNews.
Lenten - “Micropractices”
Spiritual practices ground us in God’s love. We will be sharing small, daily ways of increasing our awareness of God’s presence and sharing God’s love with one another. A booklet with these practices will be part of our Lenten bags and available in the church office or online at the above link.
Pray
We will continue to open the Chapel for quiet prayer each Tuesday from 11am -2 pm and by appointment. Look for coming information on several outdoor prayer stations beginning mid-Lent as the weather begins to warm.
