No More Stolen Sisters - Pow Wow Jacket
Currently on view in the MOV Studio

This Pow Wow jacket, acquired at the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre Fundraiser on November 26, 2021, was donated to help raise public awareness of the human rights crisis surrounding Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirited individuals (MMIWG2S). Did you know that Indigenous people, both male and female, account for 4.3% of Canada’s total population, yet indigenous women and girls account for 16% of female homicide victims, and 11% of Canada’s missing women?

In recognition of Indigenous Peoples Month, the jacket will be on public view at MOV for the month of June 2021.
You are invited to join us virtually for the opening ceremony of Museum of Vancouver's newest feature exhibition - That Which Sustains Us. We will be streaming our opening ceremony live from the Museum of Vancouver's YouTube page.

Time: 1:30pm to 2:30pm

Platform: The ceremony will start promptly at 1:30pm, and will take place on YouTube Live.
About the exhibition:

That Which Sustains Us is a long-term exhibition that will explore the convergence of different knowledge traditions in the Vancouver area through an examination of people’s interactions with forests and their natural environment. It will do so by showcasing traditional ecological knowledge related to forests; consequences of the deforestation and urbanization of Vancouver; and the possibility of returning to sustainable land use practices in the Greater Vancouver area.
