Grand Opening & First Friday at the Wandering Bear Gallery
Friday, January 3, 5-8pm

Fairbanks Arts is delighted to welcome exhibition year 2020 in our new temporary gallery space with a solo exhibition by Somer Hahm and a group exhibition by Nancy Hausle Johnson and Iris Sutton! Somer Hahm’s solo exhibition The Painted Quilt is inspired by the wealth of the American Patchwork, and directly investigates the timeless beauty of quilt block designs. The group exhibition Two Interpretations , featuring Iris Sutton & Nancy Hausle Johnson, celebrates the artists’ experiences and travel, the wildlife of Alaska, and the beauty of the arctic in mixed media. Read more about these two exhibitions .
This special First Friday opening reception celebrates not only two wonderful exhibitions, but also the grand opening of the Wandering Bear Gallery !

Our new temporary gallery and gift shop space is located on 3501 Lathrop Street , right by Van Horn Road. We will enjoy art, refreshments, and friends from 5pm to 8pm and invite you to join us!

And now for a sneak peek!
On November 15, Fairbanks Arts was displaced from our facility in Pioneer Park due to structural concerns about the building. On December 13 we received keys to our new temporary gallery, gift shop, and office space on Lathrop St. Since then, Fairbanks Arts staff and our superhero volunteers have been working HARD to make some gallery magic happen! Below is a sneak peak on our progress to date from walking into a blank slate just two weeks ago. Make sure to come to the grand opening of the Wandering Bear Gallery on January 3 for First Friday!
Fairbanks Arts' successes (and gallery magic) would not be possible without the support of a LOT of people. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the many people who have contributed and volunteered time to date to help make the Wandering Bear come to fruition.

A big thank you as well to our friends at Noel Wien Library for offering us temporary office space, our friends at Venue for housing Fairbanks Arts' December exhibit 'Rarefied Light', and to Fountainhead Development for a wonderful space that will allow us to continue serving Fairbanks in and through the arts!

We are so grateful for you all!
