This month our staff and clients celebrated the senior nutrition program!

Each year, the AIHS nutrition program serves more than 200,000 meals to northeast Indiana Hoosiers.

These meals are provided through one of three programs:

  • Meals on Wheels
  • Congregate Dining
  • Restaurant Vouchers

While the need for meals is growing, funding is not.

For the first time, AIHS has been forced to implement a waitlist. This means older adults who are in dire need of meals may not have their needs met.

"I don't have money for groceries right now. When I try to use food banks, there isn't enough food available."

-Older Hoosier after being told they will be placed on the waitlist

We need your help to continue providing life-changing meals to older adults in northeast Indiana.

In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, we are asking for $50 donations, enough money to feed a homebound senior for over a week.

These are more than meals. This is independence. Please support your aging neighbors today!

Give the Gift of Independence

Notes from our nutrition clients:

There are currently 342 older Hoosiers waiting to receive Meals on Wheels. Help fund their meals today!

Happy 60th Anniversary to the

Older Americans Act!

The Older Americans Act (OAA), enacted in 1965, is celebrating its 60th anniversary, ensuring a network of organizations can plan and implement programs for older Americans to age well with health, dignity and independence.

To this day, the OAA remains the largest funding source for the AIHS senior nutrition program.

Visit the ACL website to learn more about this landmark legislation and how it is shaping the lives of older Americans!
